Dr. Lars understands health challenges having grown up with asthma and related bouts of pneumonia as a teenager. He learned early on never to take health for granted.

This health challenge motivated Dr. Lars to study how the body works and understand how to restore health. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Lars earned a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine. He worked as a licensed acupuncturist, using a holistic approach with acupuncture, massage and herbal therapies. In his continued pursuit to understand health and disease, Dr. Lars found a chiropractor who not only eliminated his back pain, but also helped him to function at his best. This motivated Dr. Lars to obtain his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. For over two decades now, Dr. Lars has used a variety of chiropractic adjusting techniques to empower patients of all ages to live a healthier and better quality of life. Adjustment techniques are patient specific and include:

Diversified osseous adjustments; instrument assisted (Activator); and Thompson drop table. Dr. Lars also employs specific rehabilitative exercises and myofascial release, as well as, ergonomic recommendations for symptoms related to spending hours in front of a computer. Dr. Lars is also fluent in medical Spanish.

He also gives back to the profession by serving as an Examiner for the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, for the national chiropractic licensing exam.

    I’ve been coming here for almost two months and have been working with Dr. Graney, who is great! He is very professional, always has a positive attitude, and has helped me a lot with my recovery. However, today he wasn’t in, so Dr. Bacon did my adjustment. Unfortunately, my experience with her was very different. She came across as rude and unprofessional, and I ended up leaving feeling worse than when I arrived. I understand they were about to go to lunch, but patient care should always be a priority. From the moment I walked in, it felt like she was in a rush, and you could tell she did not care for my pain and issues. The only reason I’m not leaving a lower rating is because of how great my experience has been with Dr. Graney.

    I have been to several locations of the Joint all over the country and while I've never had a bad provider, some of the receptionists left a less than appealing taste in my mouth. This particular location is the best I've been to. Donita at the front desk is so amazing. She is welcoming, empathetic and so helpful making it easier for patients to get treated. Dr. Graney is the reason I keep coming back. I have a complicated injury and not only was he familiar with it, he has been the only person capable of providing me relief.     I’ve been coming to this location since they opened around 2019 or so. They started out with quality chiropractors, but then they started to get really bad. I went in last week to give it one more shot, and to be honest, I was planning on canceling my membership. But I noticed a lot seemed to have changed. The young lady at the counter was so nice and polite. Her vibes were very pleasant. And my chiropractor was Dr. Lars…and he was great. Prior to him, they would adjust both sides and your neck and say bye. But Dr. Lars actually adjusted everything and quite efficiently. Needless to say, I’m going to keep my membership and give it another try. Only “con” I had was… I hated waiting in the adjustment area while another patient was getting adjusted. I felt uncomfortable for the other patient. And same thing when someone was in there waiting for my adjustment to finish. Although it’s no big deal for me, I’m sure it’s awkward for others to talk about your pains and ailments in front of strangers. Keep in mind, there is a Lobby here with multiple chairs, and I have no problem waiting in the waiting room for the previous patient to leave. I’m sure others would feel the same.

    I saw a new patient special online and got a call soon right after I gave my info. Cool, no problem, I listened to the associate talk and wanted to think about it first. Fast forward I’ve gotten calls every few days with different numbers calling me and every time I said I would schedule on my own time. I had to tell the last associate to stop calling and she said she would take my number off the list but I still got a call today. Even if I did want to try it out I don’t anymore at this point….follow up once or twice, not 10 times!

    The person that I spoke to on the phone just now, 9/13/2025 @10:29am, was so rude when I told her I wanted to cancel my membership. I have NEVER spoken to a Joint associate so rude, and I’ve been going to the Joint for YEARS. She tried to tell me my only option to cancel it, was to come in, and I told her that isn’t true. Her attitude and disrespect was so bad, I honestly cannot remember ever talking to an employee so disrespectful in ANY establishment in my entire life. After back and forth about me not being able to come in. She finally told me she could send me an email to cancel it, then she hung up on me. That associate was terrible. I’m so disappointed, and definitely wouldn’t return to this location because of her. I just received the email to cancel, and it stated there was an attached form. But nothing was attached!

    Dr. Lars is very good, and that is coming from a person whose body isn't easy to match with a chiropractor. I do construction work for a living and likely have fibromyalgia and certainly have chronic and intense muscle tension. A harsh adjustment can leave me in great pain, so instead, I need a very focused and careful adjustment. Dr. Lars took the time to get me positioned properly and relaxed, and then did the manipulation with gentle force. He was able to get good movement in the center to top of my back, which is often times difficult or impossible for other chiropractors to do. I'm working out of town and saw his good reviews, so I decided to give him a try. The reviews were correct, and I wish he was located near me. If I need another adjustment while in the san diego area, he will be my first choice.

    We love coming to the Joint at East Lake . Dr Lars is so professional, caring and an exceptional human being. He really cares for the patient, as soon as you come in, he greets you with a sincere smile, the way he makes the adjustments reflects his deep knowledge and sincere care for the patient. He has been the only one who was able to "unlock" my middle back, it has really made a difference. He is working on my neck as well and I can feel progress as never before. My husband is very happy also with the way he has worked on his hips and back. The front desk staff is always courteous and willing to help.

    Honestly if you plan on leaving your card information might want to double think that. I had this service canceled and assured by the front desk person that was on shift, that dealt with my complaint I would be refunded I got my first refund but then was charged this exact month after requesting my card information be revoked.     The Chiropractor was a nice man and friendly but the signup experience was horrible! I was given an iPad to sign up with no one to go through the pages with me. Due to the flow of people they had I couldn't quite get my questions answered. I tried to call well in advance to cancel the 2nd month and they couldn't make any exceptions! I ended up paying $78.00 first month +$49.00 2nd month so in total $127 for only 1 session that my son went to. If you don't use it you lose it. I was not given a copy of my recepits or contract that they swear by! Everything should be emailed to the patient they day of their sign up so they can review when they get home. Will not be going back.

    I was so excited to go to my chiropractor appointment as I had been feeling like it was needed for quite some time. I go in expecting to leave feeling at least somewhat satisfied, yet during my whole appointment Dr heeder continued to interrupt me when I continuously kept telling him what I needed adjusted yet he proceeded to tell me “no we are only going to do this” when the whole point of filling out the pain questionnaire is so they know where they need to adjust you. I feel like as a patient I want to feel like my concerns are being taken care of but instead I left feeling unsettled and unlevel after he only adjusted my neck and my middle back which we’re not even my concerns in the first place. Going back to give it a second chance although I definitely will not be going back with him.

    The staff are always nice here. Sometimes the wait can be longer than normal if they only have one chiropractor and they are evaluating a new patient.     I came in as a new patient today. I called ahead of time to see how long the intake process will be. The front desk lady told me 45 min. I work down the street so it took me 2 min to get there. I filled out the intake forms. While I was filling out the form the front desk lady steps outside and starts having a conversation with someone right outside the doors. After I filled out the form I waited inside. There were 3 more people that walked in after me waiting to be helped. The front desk lady did not acknowledge anyone who walked in as we were waiting. She continued to have her conversation outside the doors. People decided to walk out because no one was helping us. I left my intake forms on the front desk and walked out. I don’t think I will plan on going back to be honest. There was no professional customer service especially as a new patient coming in.

    I just come here with my husband to do our first appointment, when they called me, I wanted to make an appointment and I was told I couldn't make one and didn't need one, just walk in any time they are open, we walked in at 4:05pm after a 20 minutes drive, they close at 5pm. They told us we don't take new patients after 4pm ? and I told the receptionist when they called me nobody told me I had to be here at a certain time if I am a new patient and started to give me an attitude then doctor overhead and said will take us, but she said it's 2 patients and he said, will take only one. I guess I would rather drive farther than come back to this location. Save your time, don't come to this location, just go somewhere else, just called the one on Palomar st and just make an appointment for us and with a way better attitude over the phone.

    Was refused service very rudely by one of the chiropractors. He’s a white guy with glasses. I’ve had experiences with this clown before. He doesn’t put care into his work and I can tell he hates his life. I would go in, he’d perform two adjustments in five minutes and I’d leave feeling the exact same way as I came in. It’s like he wants you out of there as soon as possible. I read other reviews here stating similar things, so it’s probably the same white guy. Today I came in at 4:20, 40 minutes before they closed at 5pm. Secretary asked him if he would accept another patient, and he very loudly yelled “NOPE! NOPE!” There were never any signs saying they don’t accept patients after 4pm. Change your hours of operation or change the people who represent your company. They are lucky the other chiropractors at this location actually do their jobs well otherwise this place would have caved in like my untreated spine lolz

    I have had a rough 8 years with lower back problems and have gone to different massage and acupuncture places in San Diego. They gave me a little relief for a few hours to a day max. I have also done physical therapy for a few years which seemed to help a little. One day I took my daughter to one of those indoor trampoline places and wanted to show off a little doing flips into the foam pit. I instantly regretted after leaving. My back hurt so bad I could barely walk or lift anything. It took about 3 days until I finally decided to try a chiropractor. I was always nervous and under the impression that once you go, you HAVE to continue going or the pain will return. Needless to say I was wrong.     I had the Wellness Plan (WP), I read on the papers they gave me I had to go 2 days prior to the next billing cycle or else I would get charge and charges are non refundable. So I made sure to go on April 27 which was 3 days prior, I told the girl at the front desk, she said her name was Alison but i didn't see a name tag so idk if thats her actual name because she seems to not care about her job, not only with me but ive seen her attitude with other customers, anyways i told her i wanted to cancel my membership, she tried to offer me another plan, I denied it and she went on the computer and told me I was good to go. She never gave me a cancelation form so I left. A few days later I checked my bank account and they charged me for another month so I called them and she picked up. The first thing she asked when I explained what happened was if I got her name which I didn't have, I had to go back and get her name. She said no refunds can be given even though I explained everything that happened and it was clearly her fault. When I asked for a supervisor or someone I could call or talk to about it she said it's only her and the doctors. Very displeased with their receptionist.

    The Dr. was just standing behind the desk when I saw the piece of paper that said no new patients. To me, this is a sign of laziness. It takes a very short amount of time to "process" a new patient in my experiences of chiropractics. If the Dr. really cared about healing people this sign wouldn't exist and they would sign people in. Maybe hire a new secretary? Solutions, rather than just pushing people away.

    I definitely would recommend going to the joint if you would like an adjustment they are an amazing team! I went with lower back pain and shoulder pain and within a week they were able to fix it. I play softball and I would always have a tingling sensation go down my arm every time I threw the ball after going to the joint the tingling has stopped and I was only going for a week so I would highly recommend if you have any pain to go see them, they will work with you with a plan to make your body feel better thanks again!!!

    Only 1 or 2 adjustments. There's a gentleman there that will give women several adjustments, however I've been to this location only a few times, and he only adjusted me once or twice each time. Its an older gentleman, and his demeanor showed me he wants me out of there as soon as possible. However, I have seen him adjust women maybe 3-4 adjustments. It's not good and I'm hoping administrative staff sees this, and trains their individuals better. Even though I work close to this location; I now have to go out of my way to other locations to get the care I need and pay a good amount of money for. Upper management needs to train their staff here better to give equal care for everybody. It is absolutely ridiculous and unsatisfactory.

    Worst place ever!!!! They only took our money n the additional fees they gave my mother in law with out explaining to her. Not to mention she’s not fully fluent in English and the one staff there fail to explain it to her... it wouldn’t be a problem if they would at least send a reminder or call about a second month fee but they didn’t. I been calling in for her to help her out on cancelling it for her but they still won’t help they only called back once! And they didn’t cancel her account she got charged again for only going in 2xs that’s some bs I’ll make sure to never come back and make sure none of my family and friends won’t come here every!!!!

    2 years ago I went weekly to this branch. I quit going due to staffing changes, that in my opinion hurt the quality of care. I tried going in today, and unfortunately saw the same face. The patient before me was being told he needed to stretch more. That his adjustments were hindered by lack of flexibility. My turn and guess what! After guessing wrong at almost everything. Nope I don’t sit all day, nope don’t look at a computer all day.... I’m told I need to stretch more. Well I just did a hour of yoga yesterday. I stretch and foam roll daily as part of my workout. ....two years later and the same well below average chiropractor. Save your money.

    Told Dr. Header I did not want my lower back adjusted due to pain after the last couple visits. Just wanted my upper back and neck aligned. He then become very defensive and rude. Telling me I just ignoring my issues and he doesn't do "half adjustments," and acting like he knows my body better than me. He then suggested I don't come into the clinic when he is there or see another chiropractor. Fine with me, I canceled my monthly payment immediately. P.S. He does not wear a mask while doing alignments or talking with patients.

    Been to a few locations as I travel for work. Worst experience with this one unfortunately. The guy who did the adjustment was unfriendly and was rushing me out the door after. I was needing the adjustment and was going slower getting up and trying to stretch some and all he had to say was "You are done and you don't need to be right here." Disappointed.

    Absolutely love this place. I came into the Joint with ankle and lower back pain. Its been a few weeks, more ankle or lower back pain. I wish I would have started coming there over a month ago instead of doing physical therapy ($50 a session) while at the Joint, I'm paying $79 a month for 4 sessions. Will continue coming back.

    When I first walked into The Joint I was in need of some real help. I was stressed and my body was feeling the effects of everything that was going on in my life at the time. I was recently diagnosed as an adult with ADHD, struggling with depression and anxiety and honestly just trying to keep my head above water. Dr. Heeder was incredibly nice as well as the staff. After my first session I cried. Not because I was in pain but because Dr. Heeder adjusted me and everything that I was carrying inside was released within a moment. It was a complete release of overwhelming emotions. That is completely normal by the way. I went home that day and I was very tired. I slept like a baby that night. Ever since I’ve started being adjusted I’ve noticed I’m more focused and not so fidgety. I’m more aware of my body and if my emotions are affecting it. I can even think more clearly. I have felt better and better after each visit. My back doesn’t hurt any more. My neck doesn’t hurt anymore. I have felt better then I ever have after a month. Overall I am more balanced as a person. This is something I would recommend to everyone. If you struggle with mental health issues like me then give this is a chance. It could be part of the answer to becoming well! Thanks Dr. Heeder!

    My first visit was not a curious visit, it was a serious visit. I threw my back out and I could hardly walk and I certainly could not stand up straight, and I was in serious pain. The two outstanding Chiropractors knew exactly what to do once they took the first look at me. They worked their magic on my back and sphine to get my back and body adjusted and realigned. After my first visit I could feel some instant relief, but they insured me that if I continued their treatment and followed their medical advice that they would have me upright and back to a normal life. Guess what people after 2 days a week for 3 1/2 weeks, I feel like a new person and I am able to do everything that I used to do and much better. People the service is not a joke and these Doctors are the real deal. I am continuing the services with these Doctors because they insured me that everyone body needs some adjustments from time to time as we go through life. Your body is just like car, from time to time it needs alignment. Pay the Doctors a visit, you will be surprised how great you will feel.

    Dr. Heeder is amazing! He truly cares about each individual and can clearly explain what is going on with each person. He has lots of knowledge and wants you to be in the best shape you can be. He does what is needed and does it carefully so you can properly heal and grow from there on.     I started coming to The Joint Eastlake a little over a year ago and rated the establishment 5/5. However, after losing Dr. Oku, the quality of care has declined drastically. I have not been able to receive the adjustment that I need and leave with confidence knowing I won't have to deal with the pain I came in with.     Hello there...today's experience was great thank goodness. Tuesday's not so much. Almost didnt come back and cancelled but glad I gave it another shot. Definitely will be back Wednesday-Saturday. Today's doctor was great...welcoming and informative. Easy to talk to aswell! My adjustment was great....not intimidated at all...felt great afterwards! Highly recommend The Joint. Receptionist was very welcoming and attentive. Her customer service was to the T! Tuesday's receptionist was great aswell. So awesome to be able to come in, check in, get seen and adjusted and leave all within 20mins or less. Hardly ever no wait and no appointments needed. Thx so much The Joint! Feeling great already....see y'all next week!???

    I'll give 5 star to the whole team. I've been with other chiropractor clinics but here, at the The Joint Chiropractor, my experience was awesome. Dr. Heeder is a great doctor and he surely knows what he is doing and made a treatment plan for me to help me not suffer with my migraine again. So far, no any headaches nor migraine attacks since I've started doing my chiro. Also, karen, the front desk receptionist was very helpful and nice and accommodating. The vibes in this clinic is awesome and i highly recommend it.

    Usually really good but this location is understaffed and closed because the one doctor that was scheduled is sick! How can you have a subscription business model with no back up plan for sick days. Really disappointed as this is not the first time it has happened!
