You May Be Able to Choose Longer Life
By Tom Herrin
Of all of the things we may believe we can control in our lives, the length of it is one that many of us may feel is out of reach. At one time, this may have been the case, but today things are a little different. We are much smarter after having the benefit of much research and information that has given us some good guides about maintaining health. Making some good changes in our lifestyles may be all it takes. Along with a few other adjustments, we may very well find that we can extend our lives that may be significant.
Eat Better
Many of us feel that we eat well, but it may be more of a wild guess than an educated one. If we closely examine our diet, we can likely find ways to improve it. Even doing something as simple as cutting out some fried foods or eating more fruits and vegetables can help. Adding more fiber is usually a good idea. Watching our intake of salt may help keep blood pressure at good levels. Avoiding high amounts of sugar and consuming healthy proteins is also good. For the most part, a little may go a long way. in this case, it may go a few more years.
Deal Effectively with Stress
Most of us are well aware of the damage that stress can do to us. It can prevent us from getting the right kind of rest we need to preserve our health. It can raise blood pressure. It can interfere with our concentration and contribute to bad relationships with others. In order to reduce it, we need to have a definite plan. Exercise is always a good measure to take. It can help to release endorphins that can make us feel better. Some find that different types of meditation are a great help.
Find Ways to Serve
If we are not sure what to do with ourselves, there is always a need to serve in the community. I have found that volunteering is something that is rewarding regardless of what we are doing. There are numerous groups in need, and spending time supporting them can be very enjoyable. Many people appear to add great quality to their lives by serving, and they may build great relationships with others who serve as well. This sense of belonging may truly affect the physical as well as well as the emotional.
