Are You Putting Enough Effort Into Fitness?

By Genevieve Cunningham

Exercise matters. It keeps us healthy, strong, and feeling our best. But even if you stick to a regular workout routine, there's still a good chance that you're not getting the results you want. Why? You may not be giving your best effort. Of course, we often don't even realize that we've lost our energy. We think we're doing everything right. Unfortunately, though showing up is important, it's not the only thing that matters. If you're not getting the fitness results that you want, take a look at these signs that you're not quite putting your all into your routine.

Are You Sticking to Healthy Eating?

Eating a healthy diet is part of staying fit. Unfortunately, it's really easy to get off track with your diet. We start out with great intentions, but then we see a donut or a piece of cake or our favorite bag of chips. And then we indulge. We tell ourselves that it's just once, but then we treat ourselves again and again. Before long, we're more lax in our diet than we've ever been. But because it happened little by little, we don't really notice. If you can't seem to meet your fitness goals, take a hard look at your diet first.

Are You Exercising as Often as You Should?

The typical advice is that we exercise at least four times per week. But if you're trying to meet certain goals, you may need more than that. Are you getting enough exercise? Or are you skipping more than you should? Do you have the time to squeeze in a few more minutes per week? It's important to burn more calories than you consume in order to lose weight and tone up. Try to get in a little more exercise, and you may finally start to see some changes.

Are You Present in Your Workout?

It's not enough just to do your workout. You need to go at it with intensity. You need to focus on doing each move properly and with good form. And in order to do either of those, you have to be fully present. Let go of outside worries and stress. Do your best to think about your workout and only your workout. You might be surprised at how big if a difference this makes in getting better and faster results.

If you want to see changes in your body and health, you have to be willing to push your fitness routine. You have to focus and push harder and reevaluate when necessary. Take a good hard look at your fitness routine, adjust where necessary, and get your health moving in the right direction in no time at all.
