3 Foods That Make Great Raw Snacks
By Genevieve Cunningham
Who doesn't love a delicious snack? There's something so satisfying about filling your belly between meals. It keeps us from being too hungry, gives us an energy boost, and satisfies an urge to eat. Of course, snacks are only good for you if you make healthy choices. And it's easier to make healthy choices if you don't have to put any thought into it. But how do we do that? Healthy eating takes effort, right? When it comes to snacks, all you have to do is think raw. If you're looking for easy but healthy snacks to fill your menu, take a look at these raw foods that make delicious snack choices.
Carrots
Carrots are a sweet vegetable that make an easy and healthy snack option. All you have to do is wash them and eat them. If you're eating regular carrots, peeling the outer layer can make them sweeter. Or if you prefer, you can just buy baby carrots which are already peeled, chopped, and sweet. If you're not crazy about the raw flavor of carrot, dip them in a low-fat dressing. They're easy, nutritious, and delicious when eaten raw. Overall great choice.
Apples
The great thing about apples is that you literally pick them up, wash them off, and enjoy. There is zero prep involved, and yet you can still enjoy the many benefits. Vitamin C, fiber, water these are just a few of the nutrients that you can get from apples. If you'd rather not eat them raw, slice them up and eat them with a glob of nut butter. Another easy and nutritious option, apples may be just what you need to satisfy a snack craving.
Nuts
If you want some crunch and some protein, crack some nuts and indulge. Nuts will give you both protein as well as healthy fats. They'll take slightly more preparation than the other choices unless you buy them already shelled. The key with nuts is to eat in moderation. Eating too many will push your calorie count over the edge. But in small amounts, raw nuts are a great snack choice.
If you want your snacks to be healthy, but you don't want to give it too much thought or effort, just go raw! These choices are an excellent place to start. Add them to your regular menu, and you'll be armed with healthy options to get you through any day.
