Add Activity to Conversation for Better Health
By Tom Herrin
Most people enjoy talking with friends or family members when they have the time. Unfortunately for many, things such as electronic devices take a lot attention, even when people are otherwise engaged in conversation. Why not get away from that and get a little exercise while enjoying each other’s company? Getting out in a park can create a new perspective for such social meetings. When the weather is pleasant, people often fail to take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. With disc golf, they can get out there and still enjoy conversation with others. Adding a little exercise to the meeting can go a long way.
It Can Increase Feelings for Nature
One of the great things about playing disc golf is that it is going to be outdoors. Most courses are set up in parks. This means that players will have to re-acquaint themselves with the beauty found there. It will be necessary to navigate the course around obstacles such as trees, shrubs, playground equipment, and a host of other things. An appreciation for the outdoors is a natural result of such activity.
It Can Provide Moderate Exercise
No matter how people play the game, they will need to move around the course. Though some choose to run or jog, they will likely walk a minimum of a mile or more as they navigate the area. Many courses have hills or other things that vary the terrain. This increases the kind of exercise required as they ascend or descend these various things. The best part of this exercise is that people often forget they are exercising as they are having fun with the game itself. This always beats the monotony of some exercise routines that seem to beat people up with boredom.
It Can Serve to Relieve Stress
Most of us deal with some kind of stress in our lives on a daily basis. Getting outdoors can be a great way to deal with it. Adding a game of disc golf can further take our minds off of our worries. Becoming involved in the game can focus our minds on something else for a change. Enjoying the company of others can help as well. We all need stress relief. With this, we can get exercise and build social relationships at the same time.
