Stay Tuned for Good Health
By Tom Herrin
While so many people work hard and/or sacrifice for their health, it is not always necessary for them to go to great extremes for every kind of benefit. Some things are much simpler. There are times when people do things that are beneficial without actually intending to or realizing exactly how involved they are. One of those that has been known to do some good for a long time without having identified it as such is listening to soft music. Among the kinds of soft music with a good track record is jazz. Many people have listened to it for many years without knowing exactly what kinds of results it may have.
It May Help to Channel Energy
Certain beats can generate different kinds of brain waves. The result can be varying levels of function. Some can help to improve focus and stimulate greater creativity. Most people are familiar with exercising to some kind of music. Certain kinds may help people to feel better about maintaining a certain rhythm as they exercise. It is believed to reduce fatigue as well.
It May Improve Blood Pressure
Lowering blood pressure may seem like a natural for many people who have listened to softer music. Studies done on the effects of music and laughter have yielded some interesting results. In one study, those who listened to music had a significant improvement in blood pressure as did those who experienced laughter. This was compared to a control group in which there was no real improvement. The improvements were comparable to that of those who were taking blood pressure medication, reducing salt, and losing weight.
It May Relieve Stress
Many of us think of listening to jazz or some soft music as a way to reduce stress. There is apparently more to it than that. Listening to music for 45 minutes before going to bed has shown to produce good benefits. In studies, people have slept better and experienced fewer problems during the day by a a greater percentage in correlation with a greater number of weeks doing so. I know I listen to jazz sometimes before going to bed after a stressful day with pretty good results. If you would like a very painless way of doing something good for your health, try listening to some soft music.
