Healthier Skin May Be up to You

By Tom Herrin

There are some things that are simply beyond our control or ability to affect.  Some of us really are content to let the chips fall where they may.  It is fortunate that we have the ability to manage many facets of our health.  It is good as it gives us the opportunity to be in control of our own destinies.  We all feel empowered by that.  One of the things we can definitely is our skin.  While many look at their skin as a mark of their beauty, it is actually much more than that.  It protects us from infection as well as being a big part of our appearance.  With a few good practices, we may be able to keep it looking good and being healthy.

Make a Habit of Exfoliating

A simple way of making the skin feel soft and look good is to exfoliate.  At one time, I had no idea what this was.  After running across someone selling a product in a mall, I learned first hand just how well it worked.  As I rubbed my hands together with the product on it, the salesperson kept telling me to keep rubbing.  I thought it was part of a sales pitch, but afterward, I found that my hands were softer than I had ever remembered.  As a result, I exfoliate anytime I get a chance.  It can do a great job of removing dead and dry skin, revealing smoother and softer skin.

Reduce Stress

Getting rid of stress is always easier said than done.  Stress can cause some serious skin problems such as psoriasis and eczema are often related to stress.  Of course, we all know that stress may take a significant toll on our face as stress may show readily on our faces.  Finding ways to manage stress is important.  Putting it in its place is critical.  Identifying a way to make a plan to deal with the things that cause the stress can help.  Exercising or participating in some kind of mediation is usually helpful.

Make Sure to Drink Lots of Water

We need water in order to stay healthy.  It helps our blood to flow, perspire to stay cool, and move food through our digestive system.  It is necessary to help maintain the elasticity in our skin.  This helps to keep away wrinkles and other signs of aging.  Anyone wanting healthier skin must add drinking more water to their list.
