Count a Few More Fruits in Your Healthy Beverages
By Tom Herrin
It may seem as if we are all out of options at times as we look for more healthy beverages. Even the best of us can get a little tired of just water. We may try to branch out and find something more. As we search for a greater variety of flavors, we may feel that we have reached the end of the line. It doesn't have to be so. There are many more things that we simply may not have given thought to. The good thing is that they are there, and many of them are really healthy. Why not do a little more exploring?
Is Pomegranate on Your List?
Pomegranate is one of those fruits that ate when I was a kid. We would break one open and sort through it. It has a good flavor, but we didn't really know what to do with it from there. The fact is that it has quite a few benefits. One study indicated that it may help to improve memory. Another has shown that it may help to prevent bone loss. It has some good antioxidants that are known to help fight some cancers as well as improve skin. It has also shown promise in helping to lower cholesterol and help to maintain blood pressure at healthy levels.
When Life Gives You a Lemon ... You Know
We probably all have been served water in a restaurant with a slice of lemon on the edge of the glass. We may have squeezed it and dropped it in, or we may have tossed it aside. Lemon is known to have some great properties. It has Vitamin C that we can all use. It also is known to quench thirst even if it has sugar added and is made into lemonade. Many people know it as a natural diuretic. Whichever way you choose to have it, it can make a pretty healthy drink.
Adding Flavors to Water Can Be Great
Anytime I feel as if I have been drinking too many beverages other than water, I will go back to basics. Adding flavors to water is easy and generally healthy. There are little or no calories and they taste good. Even if you add something such as chocolate or vanilla, you won't do yourself any harm. My family all enjoys a great variety of flavors added to their water. Fruits flavors such as cherry blackberry, pineapple, lime, or strawberry all find their way to our water. They can liven up a drink and be fun to create.
