One-Minute Health Boosters
By Brandi Goodman
Your health should always be a priority, but it's understandable how one would think there just isn't enough time in the day for it. Though many health directives do take some time to achieve, there are also some quick and easy solutions that can make a great deal of difference. Try these one-minute health boosters for an improvement in your well-being.
Drink a Glass of Water
Water is essential for good health. You need water if you hope to keep your body hydrated and your joints flexible. You can get dehydrated quickly and feel unwell if you aren't drinking enough -- particularly on hot summer days when you're sweating heavily. Take one minute to pour yourself a glass of water and drink it down.
Practice Deep Breathing
Stress can cause significant health problems if we let it remain in our lives. It's important to find stress-busters that will decrease our stress levels and help our mental state. Deep breathing is one option. Simply stop what you're doing and focus all your energy on breathing. Take a deep breath in and hold for a few seconds before releasing it. Repeat this for at least one full minute so you can release some tension and recenter your mind.
Floss
Plenty of people brush their teeth in the morning before they head out the door. Many may even brush again at night -- meeting their two-times per day quota. What lots of people forget to do, however, is floss. You really should be flossing your teeth everyday to ensure leftover bacteria gets removed from the mouth. Just take the extra minute and floss between your teeth so you can avoid gum problems. It can prevent related health problems down the line.
Plank
A full one-minute plank may be hard to achieve at first, but it will be easy once you work your way up to it. Hold a plank position for as long as possible -- up to one minute -- and feel how your core strengthens over time. A strong core and back are necessary for good health because it will aid in digestion, keep your spine stable, and promote good posture.
Keep these quick health boosters in mind when you want to begin working on your health yet feel as though you don't have enough time. All it takes is one minute at a time to really steer yourself in the right direction toward better health.
