3 Ways to Stop Drinking Your Calories

By Genevieve Cunningham

Counting calories is really hard for some people. While it's not a difficult concept to grasp, it's a difficult practice to carry out. Just one more bite won't hurt, right? Unfortunately, we often consume far more calories than we intend, and one of the worst hidden offenders is our drinks! We drink so many calories, and we don't even realize it. If you're ready to get on top of your calorie count and finally improve your health, take a look at these ways to stop drinking your calories today.

Go for Basic Black

Coffee, in and of itself, doesn't contain very many calories. But we like to jazz it up. We like to add sugar and cream and whip cream and caramel drizzles. And once you add all of that, your coffee is hundreds of calories more than it should be. If you want to drink fewer calories, drink your coffee black --  or as basic as you can stand it -- and you'll be well on your way to a lower calorie, healthier diet overall.

Limit Your Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol isn't good for the body. We all know that, right? It's toxic and your body doesn't like it. But besides the obvious toxicity, it's also full of calories. If you drink alcohol regularly, you're almost inevitably going to gain weight. If you like to enjoy a drink now and again, that's fine. But make sure you're drinking in moderation to protect your body, avoid weight gain, and stay healthier overall.

Choose Water as Often as Possible

If the option is available, choose water. It has zero calories, zero negative side effects, and it will help keep your body hydrated. It's an excellent option! Of course, drinking water can take some getting used to for those who don't regularly consume H2O. If that's you, just take it one day at a time. Choose water as often as you can, and you'll surely see some positive changes in your health and life.

We're way too accustomed to drinking our calories. It's not good for us, and it causes weight gain. If you're serious about weight loss and better health, you have to stop! Use these tips to lower your calories, and enjoy the healthier body that comes along with your efforts.
