3 Good Reasons to Go Easy on the Alcohol

By Genevieve Cunningham

Alcohol. Most people enjoy a drink now and again-. Whether it's after a long day at work or just a social drink with friends, a drink can help us relax and unwind. Unfortunately, alcohol really isn't good for our bodies or minds. Though we can still drink it, it might be a good idea to cut back -- at least every now and then. If you want to keep the body as healthy as possible, but you definitely enjoy a good drink, take a look at these reasons to go easy on the alcohol for the sake of your own health.

To Prevent Hangovers

No one likes hangovers. The headache, nausea, the exhaustion. But if you drink too much, the hangover is inevitable. The hard part is knowing when enough is enough. Depending on your overall health, your limit may be four drinks or only one drink! If you want to prevent the problem of hangovers completely, the only option is to cut the booze out for a while.

Because Your Body Thinks It's Poison

Your body really doesn't like alcohol. In fact, when you consume alcohol, your liver begins to detox the alcohol first -- even before much more dangerous substances! In short, it considers it a poison. And even though a small amount of alcohol probably won't hurt you in the long run, it's not a bad idea to cut back or keep alcohol consumption to a minimum.

It Ages You

Alcohol can really speed up the aging process, especially if you're drinking to excess. It's dehydrating, which further enhances aging. Those who drink regularly are more likely to notice dark spots on the skin, dry skin, bags under the eyes, and even weight gain. If you're interested in anti-aging products and keeping the body youthful, you'll need to avoid alcohol as much as possible and drink a ton of water instead.

Alcohol just isn't good for you. Can you still drink it? Of course, but it's important to drink in moderation. It's important to be smart about alcohol consumption in order to keep your body healthy and feeling good. Don't overdo it. Use restraint and be smart. With the right approach, you can enjoy the occasional drink while keeping yourself in a healthy condition.
