Break the Mindless Snacking Habit
By Donna Stark
Do you ever find yourself so bored that you walk into your kitchen and grab something to eat even if you aren't hungry? Well, you aren't alone! Mindless snacking is a common trap that many of us fall into. And even though a handful of chips here and a couple of cookies there may not seem too worrisome at first, they can be if you continue with this unhealthy habit. Mindless snacking can lead to an increase in empty calories, sugar, and sodium if you aren't careful, but how can you break this habit of yours? Well, your local chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic have some suggestions they would like to share. Take a look at them below.
Drink Water
Instead of grabbing that candy bar, why don't you reach for a bottle of water? You already know the candy bar won't give you any benefit other than a moment of bliss, but that water will help keep your body healthy and functioning! Drinking water will also help you maintain a healthy weight, improve the appearance of your skin, and flush the toxins from your body.
Find Something to Clean
We usually head to the pantry when we are bored, so if that is the case with you, find something productive to do instead! More than likely, there is a load of laundry that can be started, some dust that needs to be wiped away, and a junk drawer that could be organized. By staying busy you will not only improve the cleanliness of your home, but will also improve the cleanliness of your insides!
Keep Healthy Snacks Ready
Watching TV is always better if you are munching on something, so keep a bunch of healthy snacks ready to go! Fill your refrigerator with sliced fruits and vegetables or make some homemade popcorn before you sit down (without butter or salt, of course!). And if you can't enjoy your programs without a bag of chips near you, make sure they are the baked ones instead of the fried. It really will make a huge difference in how you feel.
Getting Out of the Mindless Snacking Trap
Acknowledging your mindless snacking habits and trying to do something about them is really quite admirable! Hopefully, the tips above will get you started in the right direction so you stay on the path to improved health and wellness. Good luck with your new habits! Your local chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic are cheering you on!
