Retaining Some Youth May Be Easier Than You Think
By Tom Herrin
Whether it seems so or not, many people begin to show signs of aging at much earlier ages than one might expect. Some people see it as early as their thirties or forties. It is unfortunate that it may be brought about by the lifestyles lived by so many people. So many are involved in jobs that do not require very much activity, strenuous or otherwise, that without careful planning they may suffer from a serious lack of exercise. The other side of this is that studies have shown that people who have fallen into this kind of pattern may still be able to make changes in their activity and see good results in weeks or months.
The Unwanted Signs
People often see rises in blood pressure and blood sugar that can be alarming. Cholesterol may also begin to move in the wrong direction. Blood supply to the body begins to be reduced. Without intervention, the body may begin to lose muscle and increase in fat. The classic look of a man with an ever increasing waistline is pretty common. For women in particular, osteoporosis becomes a concern. Type 2 diabetes has become more common.
Things That Can Make A Difference
The standard things to do are still the same. People can have far more influence on their own aging than they may realize. Good exercise can improve blood flow, reduce blood pressure and blood sugar, and improve cholesterol. As people use muscles more, they will normally find that they function much better with less pain. Weight bearing exercises are known to increase bone density as well. Varying the kind of exercise is usually a good idea so that several issues are addressed.
Get A Social Life Going
Studies have shown that people who are socially active may be able to add years to their life. Being too reclusive may be easy to do, but it will not do much to promote better health and longevity. Try getting out and walking with others. Attend more events on a regular basis. Being active may also help you to rest better. This can make you more mentally alert as well as keep your skin looking better. You may be able to delay some aging if you will just make yourself do so. You will feel a lot better, too.
