You Can Jump Rope Without Being a Fighter

By Tom Herrin

There are plenty of fixed images that people have in their minds about all kinds of things.  Some of it is from old ideas. Others are simply from the way in which people tend to judge things.  When many think about jumping rope, one of two things come to mind. They either think about children’s games or a boxer in training.  What a contrast. The fact is that jumping rope is one of the simplest workouts anyone can have. There is just a rope and a place to jump.  Many people prefer to jump barefooted. The biggest problem is likely the fact that many people feel that it is not for them because they think they are not capable of doing it.

It Can Help Avoid Foot and Ankle Injuries

Since jumping is pretty controlled, the problems associated with these injuries is less likely.  In so many activities, people are planting their feet and turning. Jumping rope is more straightforward.  The participant should be landing on the balls of their feet rather than flat footed. This not only strengthens the feet and ankles, but it also carries over into other activities.  It can become good training.

It Is a Good Aerobic Workout

Jumping rope can do a good job of increasing the heart rate.  This means that the blood is moving more efficiently. Breathing is steady, supplying oxygen as needed to the cells and carrying away waste materials.  Since the participant can jump at their own pace, they can work up as they need to without being overtaxed. Doing this for a few minutes per day can yield good results allowing them to achieve better efficiency in their breathing in a short period of time.  This is a key to experiencing success in any workout program.

It Can Help with Self-Control

Those fighters show a great ability to stay focused.  Jumping rope can improve the ability to eliminate distractions.  When you jump, it is said that you will establish some control that allows you to stay calm.  It seems to have to do with the motions you are creating as you master a mind and body experience.  Whatever the reason, many of us can benefit from anything that keeps us calm. It can help in many work situations as well as routine daily activities.
