Foods You Should Eat Each Day
By Sara Butler
If you’re trying to make your health a priority, then eating healthy is essential. It can be tricky to choose the right foods to ensure you’re getting all the vitamins and minerals your body needs to achieve optimal health. Whether you want to improve your skin or make your digestive system run smoother, there are different foods you can eat each day to promote the right balance of nutrients. Add these simple foods to your menu and reap the healthy benefits!
You simply can’t go wrong with dark, leafy greens as a part of your everyday diet. They are high in antioxidants and phytonutrients, plus they pack a punch of Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Vitamin, E, and Vitamin C. These vitamins help to keep your immune system functioning well and can improve the look of your skin, too. You can eat them in a salad, add them to a casserole or pasta dish, or throw them in a smoothie. The choice is up to you -- as long as you include them somewhere!
Eggs may just be the perfect food. They’re full of compounds important to your eye health and help to support a healthy central nervous system. Plus, they’re easy to make and inexpensive to buy -- a protein that can easily be the centerpiece of an entire meal or the star of your snacking sideshow.
Cold Water Fish
Fish such as mackerel and sardines are full of omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin B2, Vitamin D, and a host of other important nutrients such as calcium and selenium. They’re also less likely to contain mercury, which can be a problem in some fish that makes eating frequently not recommended. Try adding these fish to pasta or salads.
It’s OK to go nutty every day! Nuts are high in antioxidants and healthy fats, including those awesome omega-3 fatty acids that help to promote heart and brain health. Nuts also happen to be a great source of fiber and protein, two things that work together to help you satisfy hunger. Keep some nuts in your desk at work or in your car so you have a snack to help get you through your morning or afternoon.
Go ahead, add these foods to your day. You can't go wrong for your health and wellness!
