4 Health Benefits of Drinking Coffee Daily

By Brandi Swieter

Coffee may not be as ideal to drink as water, but it does come in handy to drink for those who need the extra pick-me-up. There are even health benefits people can receive from getting a regular amount of coffee in their systems. With National Coffee Day celebrated in September each year, now is the right time to take a look at some of the health benefits drinking coffee brings.

It Reduces the Risk for Heart Disease

Heart disease plagues many people with the disease leading to other heart struggles down the line. Drinking coffee regularly is said to reduce the risk. The risk reduction is said to be higher in women than men. There is even evidence saying women who drink java are less likely to experience a stroke. Perhaps this is due to the fact that drinking coffee can help to lower levels of stress. Stress is bad for the heart.

It Prevents Type 2 Diabetes

The reason is relatively unknown, but studies have shown that people who consume coffee daily or almost daily have a reduced risk for developing Type 2 diabetes. Elevated blood sugar levels is one of the main culprits of type 2, so perhaps coffee helps to keep these levels lowered. Whatever the reason, it’s worth it to drink coffee if it means reducing the chance for developing a disease.

It Can Reduce the Chance for Liver and Uterine Cancer

Certain types of cancer seem to have a lesser risk of developing when people consume coffee. Liver cancer is one of the leading causes of death, yet this type can be reduced due to coffee consumption. Uterine cancer is another kind that sees improvement because of coffee. Anyone at a higher risk for these cancers should drink a few cups of coffee each day to keep them from occurring.

It Improves Symptoms of Stress

Caffeine can boost mood. People who consume coffee are often said to be happier and less calm. There are even jokes about individuals and their inability to handle conversations in the morning before they’ve had their first drop of the brown liquid gold. Drinking a hot or warm cup of coffee can help to ease tension and make people feel relaxed and ready to take on the day. It offers a boost in energy as well.

Drinking four or more cups of coffee per day isn’t good for health, but a cup or two of joe could bring health benefits. In moderation, coffee can be good for the body overall, reducing the risk for certain diseases and improving symptoms. With the pick-me-up coffee brings, many people are drinking the stuff anyways. Knowing the benefits it provides can make it even more worthwhile.
