Choosing Healthy Holiday Gifts

By Brandi Swieter

It can be difficult to find the perfect gift for someone. Choosing something healthy and beneficial for a person's well-being is a great way to let a person know they're cared about. Plenty of healthy holiday gifts exist that can be given to anyone on the Christmas list or even for birthdays thereafter.

A Healthy Holiday Gift Basket

Movie, popcorn and candy, mugs, cocoa, cookies, sausage, and crackers and cheese are just a few of the popular gift basket items most commonly presented. None of these options are healthy in the least bit; they are comprised of fattening foods and high calorie items that people should typically avoid. Creating a healthy holiday gift basket is the better solution. Whole wheat crackers and a low-fat cheese spread is one option. A fruit basket is also ideal.

A Fitness Tracker

Staying active by going to the gym or joining a sport isn't for everyone. People can have an easier time tracking the activity they do get with a fitness tracker. Walking is a simple and necessary task throughout each day that counts as exercise. When people see their steps added up, it's a huge motivator to want to continue doing more.

An Oil Diffuser

Essential oils are ideal for those looking for alternative solutions to modern medicine. Often times, medication is prescribed for something that can be helped with a few simple oils. Lavender oil, for example, helps to lull people to sleep due to its calming effects. Pair it with cedar wood for a true sleep-inducing combination. An oil diffuser with a few essential oils makes a great gift that promotes wellness that shows thought and consideration.

An Insulated Water Bottle

Water is essential for overall health, yet many people do not even come close to drinking the recommended daily amount. Getting someone a water bottle can easily show concern for their well-being. An insulated water bottle makes an even better present. It helps to keep water cold and can even keep beverages hot if something else is poured inside.

Gift giving is meant as a gesture of kindness and appreciation. People should show others they care by offering health-related presents that can do something beneficial for their health. Numerous options exist that make this possible for everyone on your list, no matter their interests.
