5 Healthy Easter Basket Ideas

By Brandi Goodman

Easter baskets pre-made from the store may seem fun for the kiddos, but they're usually full of cheap toys and candy. You can create a much better basket yourself with healthier alternatives. Health is important even during holidays such as Easter. Incorporate one or more of these ideas into your basket for your kid's' improved well-being.

Outdoor Themed Basket

An outdoor themed basket is a great idea if you want to incorporate fitness. Sidewalk chalk, a jump rope, a kite, a Frisbee, and a squirt gun are just a few ideas to put in this basket. It will get your kids outside and moving. Exercise is so important for a healthy mind and body. Making sure your kids get plenty of it on Easter and after is vital.

Hiking Basket

Rather than just a general outdoor basket for your kids, you can make a more specific hiking one. A hiking trip together as a family can stem from it. Include a water bottle, a bag of trail mix, a GPS unit or compass, a whistle, some granola bars, and bug spray. Instead of a basket, you can even just offer a hiking bag filled with the items. It could be a nice surprise.

Cooking Basket

Home cooking is often far healthier than eating out. Make your kids a cooking Easter basket that will encourage them to bake and prepare meals at home. You can use the opportunity to cook with them, teaching them about the importance of healthy foods. A cookbook, some cookie cutters, measuring cups, an apron, and mixing spoons can be included.

Fitness Basket

A fitness basket is another ideal solution. Include a weighted jump rope, a water bottle, a hair band, hand towel, and a yoga mat. You can even add in a few diagrams of how to perform certain common exercises using the right posture.

Health Basket

An overall health basket is also wise. A healthy cookbook could be one inclusion. You may also want to add an aromatherapy candle that can ease stress. A couple of healthy snacks would be beneficial. Incorporate a variety of health considerations, such as fitness items, nutritional foods or recipes, and mental health solutions.

Easter should incorporate health. Don't let the store aisles packed with candy get you off your game. Healthy Easter baskets are possible that will promote a better message for your young ones.
