Plan a Holiday Fitness Date
By Brandi Goodman
The holidays can bring stressful times for many. Take a night off from your to-do list and plan a holiday fitness date that will boost your mood and leave you in better spirits. Whether the date is with a significant other or just a friend, the point is to get out and enjoy yourself.
A Walk to Look at Christmas Lights
Don't take the car to view Christmas lights around town. Plan a walk instead so the two of you can get your bodies moving and enjoy some exercise time while taking in the beauty around you. Enjoy a leisurely walk around your own neighborhood or drive somewhere well-decorated and get out and walk from there.
Decorate the House
Decorating for the holidays can be a major chore. Turn it into a date and it can actually be fun. Spend time laughing and working together as you get the Christmas cheer going with all the beautiful lights and unique decorations.
Go Ice Skating
Ice skating is a fun winter activity to enjoy, but many states do not have the weather necessary to create the ice. Visit a nearby indoor ice skating rink instead for your date night. Skatetown Ice Arena is available for Roseville residents.
Have a Faux Snowball Fight
Snow may not be available in your area, but that doesn't mean you have to miss out entirely. Get crafty and create some faux snowballs. That can be part of the date as well. Afterward, have a snowball fight as you laugh and chase each other, seeing who gets pelted the most times. Winner makes dinner?
Volunteer
Volunteers are highly needed during the holiday season. So many people are without food and family, and your presence could mean a lot. Make your date one where you volunteer together. It can help you bond while realizing what the two of you have shouldn't be taken for granted. It's a great opportunity to strengthen your connection while doing something nice for others as well, and can give you some exercise time as you're up and moving constantly.
A holiday fitness date may be just what you need to unwind and boost your spirits. The holidays are often touted as a joyful time, yet many feel stressed and overwhelmed instead. Some time away from it all enjoying a fitness-inspired date with a friend or significant other can help you get some quality time that's truly enjoyable.
