3 Tips to Healthy Black Friday Shopping

By Virginia Laird

Is it Black Friday yet? If you are one who absolutely enjoys the thrill of finding a bargain and shopping, Black Friday is probably one of your favorite days of the year. While it can be quite the challenge to make it through a long day of shopping, health and wellness experts suggest there is plenty you can do to keep your Black Friday healthy. A few of their suggestions include:

  • Take a snack along for the trip
  • Wear comfy shoes while shopping
  • Rest up before heading to the mall

Take a Snack Along for the Trip

Health and wellness experts suggest packing a light snack in your bag is a great way to keep yourself from heading over to the junk food purchase areas. While the smell of all things delicious fill the air of the mall, these foods may not be the healthiest choice for your diet. A great healthy snack to pack could include a piece of fruit, almonds, or fresh veggies. Make sure when you choose what to carry with you, it will stay fresh and ready until your appetite is ready to indulge.

Wear Comfy Shoes While Shopping

When shopping, no matter how long the trip may be, it is always wise to wear comfy shoes. This is especially true for a Black Friday outing. Back pain can put a damper on your shopping trip in a big hurry. Rather than allowing such pain to take over your excursion, it is best to make sure you wear the comfiest shoes you have available. Experts advise that comfy shoes can help keep you focused on finding the best deals rather than having a distraction such as pain that has you wanting to get done as quickly as possible.

Rest Up Before Heading to the Mall

Health and wellness experts advise those heading to the mall for a long day of Black Friday shopping should plan ahead to rest up prior to heading to the mall. Millions across the nation will embark on the same shopping trip. However, experts advise that when you are well-rested you may be able to deal with the inevitable crowds, have more energy, and be able to focus on your goals while you are shopping. Although a full night of sleep may be out of the question, getting a power nap in prior to heading out the door can do wonders.

It is never too soon to begin planning your Black Friday shopping trip. Good luck!
