Want a New Way to Relax? Head Outdoors!
By Donna Stark
How do you like to relax? Do you like to come home from a long day of work, plant yourself on the sofa, and watch your favorite sitcom? Or do you head straight into your bathroom for a long, hot bath? As much as your home is a place of comfort, if you want to reduce your stress and recover from the day you just had, you may want to consider heading outside instead. Nothing can provide the amount of physical, emotional, and mental health benefits that Mother Nature can, so why don't you start this new habit today? Here are some creative ways to spend your time outside.
Get Out of the City
You know walking is a great form of exercise that can be done anywhere, but if you really want a relaxing experience and a boost in your mental health, it's time to get off of those city streets. Head out to a trail in the wilderness or turn in the direction of the beach. Experiencing nature in its truest form can rejuvenate the most tired of bodies and minds.
Take Your Workouts Outdoors
Skip the gym a couple of times each week and take your workouts outdoors! In addition to enticing you to exercise longer, surrounding yourself with nature's beauty can also take your fitness routine to a whole new level. The more challenging the terrain and the more weather elements you need to contend with will force your body to work harder and become more efficient during exercise.
Eat Your Dinner on the Patio
Come home, cook a healthy dinner, and enjoy your meal outside. Whether it is with your family or friends, surrounding yourself with great food, amazing weather, and good company is the perfect way to end your day. To top it off, there is no prettier backdrop to a meal than a gorgeous sunset!
Tend to Your Yard or Garden
While it is still considered work, tending to a garden or cleaning up your yard while listening to your favorite music or hanging out with your favorite people can still be extremely relaxing and gratifying. Digging in the soil and nurturing plants to good health resonates with so many people that it may just do the exact same thing for you!
Finding Your Relaxation Outdoors
Heading outdoors and spending as much time as you can while truly immersed in nature is one of the best ways to relax and rejuvenate your body, so lace up your shoes and step out of your house! You may be surprised by how much of a difference it makes in your life!
