Does the Temperature Bring on Back Pain for You?

By Tom Herrin

We all have likes and dislikes when it comes to outdoor temperatures.  While there may be some that are considered to be ideal, the colder temps tend to come with some issues of their own.  One of those is making allowances for the effects those temps may have on the body.  As we get out in the cold, we may find that we are a little stiffer.  Without properly warming up, this can have a negative effect on the back.  If you walk out on a cold morning and end up with back pain, a visit to a chiropractor may have you feeling like dancing again.

The Back Never Stops Working

No matter what people do, it seems that their backs have a full-time job.  Supporting the body and providing motion are both pretty important.  When people exert much effort in the cold, and without warming up properly, they can easily strain the muscles that support the back.  This can reduce their ability to effectively provide support.  A joint dysfunction may occur in which pressure is placed on a nerve and cause pain.  This pain may disrupt life as we know it and cause lots of discomfort.  No matter what they try, nothing may seem to help.  Pain medication may only provide temporary reprieve.

Chiropractors Know What It Takes

When people go to a chiropractor, they expect to find comfort again.  The chiropractor will likely perform an adjustment in which they gently manipulate the spine so that the injured joint is restored to its optimal position.  This can take the pressure off of the nerve and relieve the pain.  Since this is all done naturally, no pain medication is used.  There is no risk of addiction of side effects.  In many cases, the chiropractor will suggest some exercises that may help to strengthen the muscles that support the injured joint.
