3 Items to Keep in Your Car for Better Skin Health
By Genevieve Cunningham
The summer is the perfect time to think about your skin. With the sun shining bright in the sky, it serves as a constant reminder that our skin is one of our most important assets. Not only does it protect us, but it also serves as a first impression when meeting others. Of course you want to protect it! Sometimes, we do a really good job of this. If we're headed to the beach, we probably remember to cover up. But on a daily basis, we often forget that protecting the skin is important. To keep from getting caught unaware, take a look at these three things to keep in your car to help protect your skin in a moment's notice.
A Hat and Glasses
A hat can protect the skin on your head, and it can also create shade around your face and neck. If you find yourself somewhere where the sun is extremely bright, having a hat available may really save this area of your body. It's also helpful because creating shade lowers the temperature of your body. Glasses are also beneficial, as the sun can damage your eyes and cause wrinkles in the skin just around them. You should be wearing sunglasses everyday, but if you don't, at least keep a pair in your car for times when you need them.
Sunscreen
This is probably a really obvious habit, but we forget it far too often. If you keep a bottle of sunscreen in your car, then forgetting to apply in the morning isn't such a big deal. Or a random unexpected trip to the park is made easier. Just keep a bottle in your glove compartment or your trunk. When you're going to be in the sun, make it a habit to apply it to your skin. Sunscreen is the best way to really protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun, so don't skip this important step in your skincare routine.
Layers
The sun can be deceiving. When it's hot out, we often remember to apply sunscreen or stay in the shade. But the sun can be harmful even when it's cold. In order to protect your skin on days like this, make sure to carry layers in your car. This might include a light jacket, a shawl, or some other item that covers the body and keeps it warm. Along with keeping you warm in cooler temperatures, these layers will also protect your skin from a blazing sun -- especially when the bright sun is unexpected.
It doesn't matter how young or old you are, it's always the right time to think about protecting your skin. Make sure these items are constantly available in your car, purse, or bag. Having access to skin protecting items is half the battle in keeping your skin protected. Make a plan, follow through, and you can keep your skin healthy for the rest of your life.
