Inexpensive Exercise Options for the Advanced
By Brandi Goodman
Many advanced athletes and fitness enthusiasts utilize a gym with all the best equipment. What happens when that gym is closed or you're not quite feeling well enough to be around other people? Some exercise options at home may be in order. Plenty of inexpensive exercise options exist, even for the more advanced exerciser.
Follow Advanced Videos
Following along to a basic workout video may seem below your level, but there are plenty of advanced videos out there that will push you. You can find free options on YouTube or even Facebook. PopSugar Fitness has videos on both, and there are many targeted to the more trained individual. Celebrity-worthy dance moves, Hollywood-trained high-calorie burns, and full 30-minute workouts are all possibilities.
Try Hardcore Home Workouts
You don't need videos or equipment to have a great workout. Try hardcore home workouts that have you doing lots of repetitions and tough moves that should push your body to the limits. Try one-legged squats, bar stool dips, one-handed push-ups, and long interval planks.
Lease Your Gym Equipment
If you don't have the money to buy equipment outright, try a leasing program. Programs exist that allow you to pay monthly fees to rent your equipment. Once you're all paid up, they're yours. Fail to pay and they'll simply have to be returned. Having a home gym can ensure the same workout as your local place, yet less cost in the end when you no longer have to pay monthly dues. A full home-gym system is one of the best options that provides numerous activities to target various muscle groups. Go for larger weights to really get your muscles working as you need.
Go Hiking
You don't have to stay at home. Hiking is a great exercise option for someone who's used to physical activity. Don't stick with the same place, either. Try unfamiliar hiking paths with various terrain types so your body is pushed as much as possible. Make sure you have all your gear with you and hike with a friend -- or at the very least let someone know where you'll be going.
Give some of these inexpensive options a try and see which exercise routine meets your needs best. There are plenty of choices available to help every athlete and fitness aficionado achieve a great workout. You don't need to spend much -- if anything -- to exercise well.
