Good Skin May Reflect Good Health
By Tom Herrin
Many of the things we know about health are connected with one another. Our skin is a part of our bodies that doesn't always get the attention it should. We may take it for granted and fail to consider its importance. While women have traditionally taken care of theirs, many men have ignored it. Here is a news flash! Men and women both have skin, and it is a critical part of their health to take good care of it. More good news is that it is entirely possible for us to do so with very little effort or expense. We simply have to commit to a few good practices.
Apply Skin Care Products at the Right Time
If we apply skin care products, as many of us do, it is best to do so immediately after a bath or shower. This can essentially help to trap the moisture we may have taken in through our skin. As with so many other things, it is much easier to retain moisture than to add it back after losing it. We should effectively strike while the iron is hot.
Try Practicing a Facial Massage
Many of us would never really give a second thought about a facial massage. Doing so may help to relax the muscles of the face. It also helps to increase circulation in the skin of the face. This helps to maintain elasticity and keep a good color. It may help us to get rid of some stress and, therefore, allow us to rest better. A facial massage is easy to do and something any of us can do in very little time each day with good results.
Being Aware of Foods May Help
Chances are that, when you were young, you were told to avoid certain foods because they may cause problems with your complexion. It may have instilled some kind of fear in us, but there is some truth to it. Avoiding certain foods may indeed be good for our skin. Those that likely lead the list are sugars and dairy products. Each of us should pay attention to our own bodies and identify those foods that cause us issues with our skin. Remembering that we are what we eat may apply to the effect on our skin as much as anything else.
