3 Ways to Get More Energy Every Day

By Genevieve Cunningham

Raise your hand if you need a little more energy in your life. If you were to say this in any room full of adults in America, you’d likely get a unanimous vote. Absolutely everyone needs more energy, and the successful coffee, energy drink, and caffeine supplement industries prove it. Unfortunately, all of these quick fixes do little to fix the long-term problem of a lack of energy. Though they may give you a boost, they’ll also give you a crash once the product wears off. A better approach may be a more natural one. To gain more energy every day, take a look at these tips to incorporate into your life.

Load Up on Water

Water is a necessary part of your diet and your life. You quite literally can’t live without it. But what many don’t realize is that not getting enough water can contribute to unwanted side effects such as sickness, aches and pains, and excessive fatigue. To reverse the side effects, you simply need to increase your water intake. Strive for eight glasses a day, and ditch other kinds of liquid in lieu of water when possible.

Improve Sleeping Habits

You’ll never have enough energy if you don’t get enough sleep. But to get more sleep, we all need to tweak our sleeping habits just a bit. We can’t go to bed super late, spend half the night on our phones, have the TV blaring in the background, and then still expect to get quality sleep. Instead, set yourself a bedtime and stick with it. Leave your phone across the room, turn off the TV, and make it dark. While it might be difficult at first, once you get used to the new habits, you’ll start drifting into a deeper sleep faster and getting better quality sleep every night.

Take a Catnap

Some people try to steer clear of naps, thinking that it will only keep them up later at night. But this isn’t necessarily true. The trick is to get a very small nap, a catnap, and only at the right time of day. A short (30 minutes to one hour, tops) nap right after lunch can actually boost mental focus, energize the body, and improve basic health.  Even if you can’t fall asleep, resting for a few minutes may be enough to give the body and mind just the boost that the need.

If there’s one thing that almost everyone needs in their life, it’s definitely a bit more energy. A lack of energy negatively affects life in multiple ways, and no amount of energy drinks or caffeinated supplements will fix the problem. Instead, use these tips to attack fatigue and gain more energy in a natural way, and boost your health and feel better than ever before you know it.
