3 Ways to Feel More Productive Every Day
By Genevieve Cunningham
Productivity is a big deal. We're all supposed to be productive on a daily basis. And in all fairness, most of us actually want to be productive! But accomplishing this goal is sometimes easier said than done. It's so easy to get distracted. Even if we start off strong, we often get sidetracked by friends, text messages, social media, or something else completely off topic. So how do we get back on track? How can we be more productive throughout the day? If you would like to improve your productivity, take a look at these tips to help you do it.
One at a Time
Sometimes we feel like multitasking is the goal. If we can do more at one time, we'll get more done. But it doesn't work this way. Most of the time, multitasking just leads to a lack of focus. We'll have lots of projects half completed. Instead, consider focusing on just one task at a time. Give that task your full attention. When you need to work on something else, stop what you're doing and refocus. This approach will allow you to dig deeper into each task, and at the end of the day, you'll likely have more done.
Get Up Earlier
There's real substance to the saying the early bird gets the worm. Research suggests that those who wake up early are actually more productive. This isn't an easy habit to establish. It definitely takes some self discipline. But if you're serious about being more productive, it might be a habit worth adding to your daily life.
Make Goals
Feeling more productive will be a lot easier if you can check things off of a list. There's something about seeing your progress that makes it easier to keep going. Even if you don't make a physical list, it might be helpful to set specific goals for the day. Maybe you want to exercise, finish a project at work, and get some personal time today. Make a list! Your goals can be daily, weekly, monthly, or as spaced out as they need to be. As you get more done and cross things off, you'll feel so much more productive in your everyday life.
Productivity really is important. Though we don't want our entire worth to be wrapped up in productivity, it's definitely important to get things done. Use these tips to improve your daily productivity, and you'll feel more successful and better about life before you know it.
