How to Fit Exercise into Your Weekend
By Sara Butler
During the week, it’s easy for most people to follow a schedule, which makes it easier to stick to a schedule for your workouts too. When the weekend rolls around that schedule flies out the window, and that can make it much more difficult to keep on top of your exercise plan. Here are some simple ways you can stick to your workout schedule on the weekends!
Make Exercise Fun
Weekends should be about unwinding and having fun, so try to make your workouts a part of that fun too. There’s no rule that says you have to go to the gym to get your workout in on the weekend. Try going outside for a hike, going for a bike ride, or trying out a sport you’ve never done before, like skiing. If the weather outside isn’t conducive to outdoor exercise, then try indoor rock climbing or a workout DVD. A workout doesn’t have to be work!
Don’t Forget Time for Yourself
One of the best things about weekends is that the schedule goes out the window, but that’s also one of the biggest reasons you may have a much more difficult time fitting exercise in. The solution to this problem is to set a schedule for your weekends. You don’t have to lay out each and every second, but you should make sure to add an hour or two per day that is just for you. Spend the time doing something you enjoy, such as yoga or an exercise class you always wanted to try. Make sure to add some relaxation time in there somewhere too!
Clean your House
When the weekend gets here, you probably spend some time doing some deep cleaning to the house to make up for how you neglected it all week long. Don’t forget that cleaning your house can be a workout too! Put on your favorite playlist and see how fast you can scrub, mop, and vacuum your way to a healthier you and a cleaner house. Just don’t forget to add in some stretches before and after to ensure you don’t injure yourself. It should be treated as any other workout, even if you’re multitasking!
Exercise is important, so make sure you're fitting in as much as you can -- even on the weekends!!
