3 Effective Resources for Indoor Workouts
By Genevieve Cunningham
The cold weather is definitely on its way. The crisp nights have arrived and most people have dipped into their winter wardrobe for a sweater or a jacket. While this brings a lot of excitement for warm drinks and comfort foods, it also makes workouts much more difficult. Who wants to get out of their warm bed for a running session? Luckily, staying in shape through the winter can be done in the comfort of your own home. If you need some ideas for staying fit and warm through the cool months, take a look at these effective ways to work out at home.
Your Body
Bodyweight workouts are more effective than many people realize. These may consist of squats, lunges, push-ups, and similar exercises. You can use any combination of exercises to make a routine, so it can be adapted to fit your needs. If you take this route, you will have to pay close attention to form, as performing each move with proper form is the real way to make this workout effective.
YouTube
There are so many completely free workouts available on YouTube. Yoga, high intensity interval training, simple cardio, kickboxing … the options are endless. You may have to sit through some advertisements, but it's a small price to pay for a free workout. Choose something new and different every day, or stick with the same old favorites over and over. Either way, you’ll get a great workout with nothing more than a computer.
At Home Workout DVD
Though these sometimes carry a negative stigma with some groups of people, at home workout DVDs can really work. The key? Stick with them. Follow the calendar that comes with it. Follow the diet. You can't halfway complete it with only half of your heart in it and expect it to work. You have to treat it like any other fitness challenge or class. If you follow it the way it was designed, you’ll be more likely to see significant results once the workout series is over.
At home workouts can be really effective. You have to give it your full effort and attention, but if you do, you can lose weight and tone up without ever leaving the house. For the cool weather, it's the perfect way to build strength and endurance until the warm weather is back again.
