Back Pain May Disrupt Fun

By Tom Herrin

For many of us, more sunlight and longer days means lots more opportunity to get outdoors and have basic fun.  It doesn't always have to be something that is real involved and scheduled.  Spur-of-the-moment activities are often the best kind.  This sudden enthusiasm can be great and really turn around some of our sluggish habits.  If there is a downside, it may also give us back pain.  After doing very little for the long months of being indoors, this sudden change may have us enjoying ourselves to the extent that we overdo what we are prepared for.  If something like this gives you back pain, a visit to a chiropractor may have you back out in no time.

The Back Is a Workhorse

No matter what we do, our back is pretty involved.  It supports our head and upper body and stabilizes our movement.  If we are physically active, our back serves to keep us in check as we twist and turn.  Anytime we make an abrupt change from inactive to active, our muscles may need some time to adjust.  If we don't have this opportunity to warm up, we may end up straining the muscles that support the back.  A joint dysfunction may occur in which pressure may be placed on a nerve and cause pain.  It can be extremely annoying and leave us in pain much of the time.

Chiropractors Can Work It Out

When you go to a chiropractor with back pain, you will be given an adjustment.  In this, the spine is gently manipulated so that the injured joint is restored to its optimal position.  This can take the pressure off of the nerve and relieve the pain.  It is all done naturally, so no pain medication is used.  There is no risk of addiction or side effects.  You may be able to return to your normal daily routine sooner.  This freedom from pain may seem like a new lease on life.
