Some Healthy Drinks You Never Think About

By Tom Herrin

As we make every effort to protect our health, we constantly reevaluate what we do.  We usually try to exercise, get plenty of rest, and eat right.  The part about eating right should also include healthy drinks.  Many times, water ends up being the drink that has the least amount of bad things.  In its purest form, water has everything we need.  It is indeed the most natural choice.  With that being said, any of us may get a little tired of just water once in a while and want something with a little more flavor.  In order to have that and a healthy drink, we may need to be a little more discerning.  There are plenty of good drinks out there, we just have to find them.

You May Have Thought Pomegranate Was Just a Wild Fruit

Pomegranate is one of those fruits that I have really never seen in large numbers.  When I was young, we would eat them sometimes when we were out playing.  They were good, but it was hard to see a purpose for them.  The truth is they are really healthy.  Drinking a juice made from them can provide some great benefits.  According to one study, it may help to improve memory.  Another indicated that it may lower blood pressure and cholesterol as well as cleanse plaque from arteries.  It may even be good for the skin.

Lemon Water Is Time-Tested

For many years, we have been drinking lemon water.  Some of this is because it is there.  It actually has some good things about it.  Not only is it full of Vitamin C, it is also very light with little or no calories.  It has long been known as a good drink for quenching thirst.  It may help to boost our immune system.

Do Your Own Thing

One of the simplest drinks is to add flavors to water.  Many restaurants offer wide selections, or you may be able to make them at home.  Even some flavors that are not fruits, such as chocolate or vanilla, are not too bad.  I enjoy adding one or two kinds of fruit flavors to water when I want something different or sweet.  My favorite is to add lime and strawberry for a very light strawberry limeade.  It tastes good and is very refreshing.  Why not play with a few flavors and see what you come up with?
