Pick Colors to Enhance Beauty and Health of Meals

By Tom Herrin

Anyone who notices how great a dish looks on a full color menu has probably also considered how appealing it is.  Those who make these menus are likely artists of sorts.  An attractive meal can make anyone look forward to the opportunity to delve into it.  The benefits don't stop there.  Those meals that look so good may actually have some pretty good health properties.  One of the best ways to be sure that a meal has a variety of things that may be good for them is to be sure to have a variety of colors.  It is a pretty simple formula for a healthy meal.

Most Know About Greens

One of the most common colors that many people have been told are good in a meal is the color green.  Introducing these foods early may help children to develop a taste for them and a willingness to try them.  Some greens are thought to be good for things such as mood, insomnia, bones and blood, as well as a few other things.  There are enough different kinds of foods in this group that most people should be able to find something that appeals to them.  A few of these foods are broccoli, kale, avocado, and kiwi fruit.

Yellows Always Add Something Good

Many know that a meal without something yellow is a little bit short.  Making sure they are included often can really help.  The yellow, or orange, foods have a lot to offer.  Many of them are full of Vitamin C that is well known to support good health.  Some have some things that can help with blood flow and may help prevent strokes.  A few of these foods are oranges, lemons, sweet potatoes, and cantaloupe.

Create a Masterpiece and Enjoy Better Health

When we add color to our meals, it will be an easy way to make them healthier.  For the most part, that attractive meal may go hand-in-hand with one that offers some healthy parts.  Too many times, people get stuck in a rut having too many foods that are white, brown, and some shade in between.  When those colors are missing, so may be the best possible health.  I have learned that if I add more color to meals, they will have more things that can provide what I need to be as healthy as possible.
