Let Temperature Work in Your Favor

By Tom Herrin

People struggle with all kinds of things as they try to achieve the best possible in success for life.  Setting goals is pretty significant.  Any time they can control something, they do.  One of the things they have controlled fairly well for 50 years or more is indoor climate.  With this being said, it is significant to mention that is something that may have an impact on what people do and how they do it.  Many believe that there is an optimal temperature for many of the things they do.  While it is often thought that the best temperature range is 60 to 80 degrees, it is easily possible to control it much finer than that.

The Right Temperature for Sleeping May Make a Difference

Some people are able to sleep well in warm temperatures, but most do so much better in cooler temps.  It has been said that the ideal range for sleeping well is 65 to 72 degrees with 68 being the best.  It is believed that Rapid Eye Movement is much more conducive to these temperatures while they are inhibited at warmer temps.  Many people prefer to sleep under covers as they feel they get a more restful sleep.

Those into Weight Management May Benefit from the Right Temps

Burning calories is a big challenge for lots of individuals.  It has been proposed that when people shiver from cold, they may burn calories at a much higher rate.  By the same token, it has been suggested that there is an optimal temperature range for losing weight.  That range is 64 to 67 degrees.  It is believed that when their environment is kept in this range, people will have an easier time of losing.  The same is sometimes believed for outdoor temps as well when people choose to exercise outside.

It May Be Worth a Try

I have always found that I am able to sleep much better when it is cooler.  For this reason, I turn my thermostat down a few degrees before I go to bed.  For me it works well.  As far as weight loss, I have been a believer in attempting to do so in cool temperatures.  As a result, I try to schedule the beginning of any kind of weight loss program in spring or fall.  I seem to have much more success than doing so in winter or summer.
