3 Foods to Include in Your Diet

By Virginia Laird

Whether you are looking to get healthy or shed a few pounds, what you eat has a serious impact on your results. While there is likely to be a plethora of individuals waiting to sell you their weight loss product, achieving your goal is not about signing up for a fad diet. Instead, health and wellness experts say that you should commit to a few diet changes. Their tips include:

  • Always choose a salad
  • Choose lean protein
  • Include an apple each day

Always Choose a Salad

A salad, especially one with plenty of vegetables offers a great variety of vitamins and minerals. That, along with being low calorie, salads are helpful when trying to lose weight and become more healthy. The one thing that health and wellness experts advise you to do is to watch the salad dressing you choose to use, and how much you pile on. These are generally loaded with fat and calories that can offset any good you have done by choosing a salad.

Choose Lean Protein

Another suggestion made by the experts when it comes to getting healthy is to choose lean protein. This is generally defined as fish and chicken. For those who prefer to skip both of these choices, it may be a difficult change to make to your diet. Experts suggest that you begin making the switch by changing just one meal each week until you have learned to enjoy these protein choices.

Include an Apple Each Day

Eating an apple each day is not a new recommendation. There is research to suggest that choosing to follow this advice can help your digestive system to function properly, which is imperative to good overall health and weight loss. With a wide variety of apples (sweet and tart) on the market you are sure to be able to find one that meets the needs of your taste buds while offering your digestive system the support it needs to stay healthy.

Another thing to make sure you include in your diet is plenty of water. Staying healthy cannot happen if you are not consuming the water your body needs. It is suggested that to stay properly hydrated that you consume at least half of your body weight in ounces of water each day. Start tracking your water to ensure you are drinking enough.
