Managing the Pain of Autumn Chores

The autumn season is a beautiful one -- with changing leaves that feature bright colors. However, it can also be a challenging one. Having to manage all of your autumn chores can leave you feeling sore. Find ways to easily manage the pain of autumn chores so you can enjoy the season without worrying about the discomfort that often comes along with it.
Plan Ahead
If you know you have to rake and tackle yard work tomorrow, make sure to plan ahead for the occasion. Gather all your supplies in one area and make it easier to find them when needed. It's also wise to ensure you have the appropriate disposal methods. You may want a tarp to gather up all the leaves, or a wheelbarrow to help bring them from the back of the house to the front, for example.
Match Your Tools to Your Height
The right tool also goes a long way toward helping you avoid discomfort. Slouching down to handle a short rake will only leave your back aching. Struggling to carry a heavy leaf blower can also cause you problems. You need to match your tools to your height and size so you can be sure you can handle them properly. You should be able to exhibit proper posture and stand straight -- no need for hunching and hurting.
Stretch!
You should always stretch your body out well before any activity. Autumn chores are no exception. Make sure you reach for your toes. Reach up toward the sky. Grab your ankle and stretch your quads. You can even take a quick walk around the yard. You need to get your blood flowing and your joints prepared for the work ahead. You should also stop and stretch during your chores to keep yourself free from pain, and be sure to stretch again once you're finished for an easier recovery from the process.
Get Assistance
Perhaps you have a large yard to tackle. Doing all of the work yourself will undoubtedly leave you tired and sore. You should get assistance when possible so you have at least two people working on the job. It will get done faster and help you avoid feeling so fatigued afterward. It may even be wise to hire help so you don't have to handle the job at all. This is especially beneficial for anyone already suffering from chronic pain.
Keep these tips in mind when you're tackling your outdoor chores. They'll help you make the most of the situation and ensure you can get your work done easier and with little pain to worry about. You want to be able to enjoy the autumn weather, and not be holed up inside due to an aching back.
