Posture Perfection: 4 Chiropractic Tips
By Brandi Goodman
Your posture needs to be near perfect if you want to avoid the aches that stem from slouching and standing at a slump. Chiropractors have some strict advice that can help you reach posture perfection. You just need to be sure to follow it closely.
Avoid Tech Neck
Phones and similar devices have become such a problem for people. Too many of us are frequently found looking down at our phones and having our necks tilted and turned far more than they should be. Avoid tech neck and the pain that comes with it by holding your device at eye level. Having a holder would be even more beneficial so you don't have to keep your arms raised for long intervals, which can also cause your body some strife.
Stretch Often
Stiff joints can make it difficult to sit or stand upright. You may find yourself slouching because your body is feeling sore on one side. Stretching things out can be a huge help in making sure you're able to maintain your posture. Be sure you're stretching as often as you can to keep your joints flexible.
Strengthen Your Core
Perhaps your core is the reason you aren't able to stand upright for long intervals. Weak abdominal muscles make it difficult to maintain posture. Do what you can to strengthen your core and perform exercises targeted to the abs. Many of these will target the back as well, that also needs to remain strong if you want to keep your spine aligned.
The bridge is an easy move that most people should be able to accomplish without struggles. Lay on your back and simply raise your hips while squeezing your glutes. Hold this pose for a few seconds at first and longer intervals once you're able.
Get Routine Chiropractic
No one's perfect all the time. You're bound to spend a little too much time looking down at your phone one day. You may find yourself stuck waiting in line at the grocery store slumped to one side.
