3 Tips to Drop the Weight
By Virginia Laird
Many people struggle with weight loss, trying one diet after another. However, research is increasingly proving that diets do not work. Rather, it is a change in lifestyle that helps people be successful in their weight loss goals. Committing to change can prove to accomplish more than a diet that lasts only a few weeks or months. A few lifestyle changes to be made that can help with weight loss include:
- Add protein to breakfast
- Drink more water
- Find time to exercise
Add Protein to Breakfast
Protein can help the body feel full. It is also what the body burns off the fastest, where carbs tend to linger in the body or be stored. Protein can also help get the body moving in the mornings and it is great to help build muscles. There are plenty of protein-packed options available for breakfast. Adding it does not mean there can never be cereal again, just find one that offers some or pair it with a good protein. There are also several breakfast shakes on the market that offer a balance of protein as well as many vitamins and minerals the body needs.
Drink More Water
Water is necessary for the body to maintain function. When the functions of the body are hampered, the body may have a difficult time dropping some weight, among other things. Water can also serve as a calorie control. It helps a person feel more full; and therefore, a person may eat a little less when including more water in their diet. It is recommended that a person drink at least half of their body weight in ounces each day.
Find Time to Exercise
Exercise will not be the answer to weight loss alone. However, it does help get the metabolism moving. It is important to find time to exercise in some way. When in the beginning phases of working out, a brisk walk may be enough to see changes. As progress is made, it is important to ramp up the workout as well. If you are one who struggles with pain while working out, you may want to start with some water aerobics. Pool workouts are great as they remove the tug of gravity from the body.
Don’t let yourself find any more excuses that may prevent you from reaching your goals. Start small, with one change at a time and you can accomplish anything. Good luck on your weight loss journey!
