How to Recover From a Bad Week

By Donna Stark

Have you ever had one of "those weeks?" You know what I mean. Those weeks where you feel about as useful as an umbrella during the middle of an F4 tornado. Yes, those weeks can be difficult to live through, but worse than that, they can be even more difficult to recover from. So, what do people do to get their mindset back on track again? How do they get over the physical or mental exhaustion that is wearing them down? Well, if you are coming off of a week like that, here are some tips and tricks to help.

Skip the Excuses

Sure, you had a bad week, but it's not going to get any better if you spend the next three days making excuses for what happened. The longer you sit in that state, the further you will drift from achieving your goals. Accept what has happened, change your outlook, and move on.

Find the Positive

We all know this is easier said than done, but your attitude can play a huge role in how well you recover from a bad week. It's important to look for the positive in most situations, no matter how hard that may be. And if you feel overwhelmed, don't forget to take a break and laugh!

Finding Success With Small Tasks

If you have had a bad enough week, there is a good chance that your confidence was blown to bits, so don't set yourself up for failure first thing Monday morning by trying to achieve something epic and totally unrealistic. Find success by tackling the smaller, simpler tasks first, because if you can't get those right, you can't expect to find success with the larger, more daunting projects.

Disengage

Now is not a good time for distractions, so if your social media is screaming for your attention, you may need to disengage! Keep your phone out of arm's reach and ignore it when it decides to throw a tantrum.

Get Your Sleep

It's difficult to recharge your week when you don't even take the time to recharge your body, so make sure you are getting the recommended amount of quality sleep. There is a time and a place for pulling all-nighters and this isn't it. Your priority right now is to strengthen your physical and mental health, and sleep is a great way to do that!

Changing Course

You may have been the useless umbrella last week but this week is going to be different! This week, you are going to be the storm. So start generating your power and make the week (and month) ahead of you an epic success!
