Meet The Doctors
Erika E. Henry, DC is a native of Michigan. She graduated from Siena Heights University, Adrian MI in 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. Afterwards, she moved to Atlanta to focus on her post-graduate education at Life University: a natural choice as she had been under chiropractic care since infancy. She received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2011 from Life University, Marietta GA. With a passion for women’s health, her research on Infertility and Chiropractic was published in the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal & Family Health.
Through Dr. Erika’s professional journey, she has served all ages including infants through geriatrics for the management of a wide array of issues including headaches, neck pain, upper back pain, sciatica and of course maintenance or wellness care. She has been able to help others achieve their health goals through an optimal functioning nervous system and a well-adjusted spine, balancing the brain-body connection. Regular chiropractic adjustments given by Dr. Erika may include manual manipulation, Activator protocol and Webster Technique, all of which help to prevent pain and injury but also promote optimum health & wellness.
Dr. Erika has been practicing in Sandy Springs since 2012 and opened The Joint in Sandy Springs as the Clinic Director in March 2014. She will continue at Sandy Springs and add the Dunwoody clinic to her oversight as a Multi-Unit Clinic Director. She is very excited to be delivering affordable chiropractic care by practicing in both the Dunwoody & Sandy Springs communities. With our convenient hours and friendly atmosphere, she looks forward to serving you and your family soon.

Dr. Karen Joanson joined The Joint Chiropractic family in 2017 when she became the local chiropractor for the Sandy Springs and Buckhead clinic locations. A graduate of State University of New York - Oneonta, she received a bachelor’s of science degree in psychology and a doctorate of chiropractic from Life University in Marietta.
Dr. Karen -- you can also call her Dr. K -- could not be happier doing what she’s doing.
“The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is healing people’s spines so they can live the best self they can be,” she says. “I also love the interaction with people of all ages.”
Dr. Karen grew up in New York before coming to the south for college. In her spare time she enjoys travel and, more locally, riding her bike on the BeltLine.
She says she loves working here because of the great wellness coordinators and the great working relationship she has with Dr. Erika.
“I knew chiropractic was my calling when I saw how powerful it is in the healing process,” Dr. Karen says.
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Karen says the one thing she always keeps in her kitchen are avocados: “They’re a great saturated fat!”
If she could meet any four people from history for the dinner party of her dreams, Dr. Karen would like to gather together a president, a painter, a doctor and a singer: “I would love to talk to Daniel David Palmer, who invented chiropractic; George Washington, our first U.S. president, to talk about all the changes that have happened; Vincent Van Gogh, the post-impressionist artist, because I love his works; and Madonna because I loved her music growing up and she influenced a generation.”
Dr. Karen says her own real-life brush with greatness has provided some of the coolest experiences of her life. “I have worked on many movie sets and provided backstage chiropractic to many musicians,” she says. “I loved working on Def Leppard and the set of the ‘Walking Dead.’“
