Improving Your Immunity the Natural Way

By Donna Stark

The joke used to be that if you wanted to avoid getting sick, you needed to live in a protective bubble, but the best way to keep germs away is to build a strong immune system instead. Building a strong immune system is one of the most important things you can do to ensure good health and to live an abundant life. You see, even if you had a bubble to live in, we all know that at some point or another, it could pop. So make sure you are prepared and take the necessary steps to strengthen your body's immune system from the inside out. Here are some easy ways to get started.

Exercise Daily

One of the best ways to reduce stress, boost the circulation of white blood cells, and increase oxygen transportation is to exercise daily. You should try to incorporate at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise into your daily routine. Now, if you have a hard time being able to fulfill that time period in one workout, don't worry. You can break it up into smaller portions of time too. Just make sure you are exercising at that moderate level or higher.

Eat Nutritiously

If you want a strong army of fighters, you need to feed them, and the same is true for your immune system warriors. Consuming a healthy diet that is packed with nutrient-rich foods is the way to go here. Fill your meals with plenty of fruits and vegetables (the darker the hue, the better), whole grains, lean proteins, and heart-healthy fats. Avoiding or eliminating sugar and processed foods from your diet is beneficial too!

Reduce Your Stress

You have your healthy diet and daily exercise down, but don't forget to practice effective stress-management skills too! Stress and anxiety are huge contributors to weakened immune systems so when you are feeling afraid or overwhelmed, find an activity, such as yoga or reading, to calm those feelings down.

Get Your Sleep

Even though a good night of rest can't actually eliminate all of the germs around you, it is one of the most effective ways to prepare your body to fight. Studies have shown that sleep deprivation increases the risk of getting sick. Sleep is the time your body uses to reboot and recharge, so it is vital that you get the recommended amount each night.

Don't Count on a Bubble

Like I stated above, bubbles pop, and if you are counting on living inside a bubble to keep from getting sick, you may be setting yourself up for disappointment. Keeping your body strong from the inside out is a better way to go, so start today and get on the path to ultimate health and wellness.
