Health Tips When You Are Feeling Tired and Drained

By Alexis Mills

When you are feeling drained and low on energy, it is time to look from the comfort of your home at how you can re-energize yourself. Especially if you are feeling on the brink of a burnout, it is time to find some ways that you can re-center yourself. This is a time in which you need to look into your mental wellness with some small, manageable tools. There isn't anything fancy with these tips other than they get you to focus on what matters to you.

Learn to Say No

This is a big one. You have to realize that you have the power over your own life and can determine how to spend your time. Your time is valuable, and it should be spent doing things that serve you, especially when you are feeling overloaded. Many people were taught growing up that when you use the word "no" it must be accompanied by a thorough explanation. It is powerful to learn that saying no is a complete sentence and it's what helps protect your own time, energy, and space. If your schedule is overloaded, you need to free up some time for yourself. Before you make another commitment, think about whether it is benefiting your mental health or not.

Start Journaling Your Thoughts

Journaling is an underrated task that people do to manage anxiety, stress, and depression. It allows you to get any thoughts off your chest with zero judgement. Getting your thoughts down on paper or in text can help you realize what is going on internally. Sometimes, when you are overwhelmed, it just takes getting all of your thoughts out to clear up your mind.

Regularly journaling can also help you track what symptoms you have and how often you have them. Over time, the journal will help you reflect on what your triggers you have so that you can better control them. The journal can also be a place that you can use to express what you appreciate and are grateful for. This is a great way to help change your mindset.

Practice At-Home Yoga and Meditation

Participating in yoga at home gives you time to reconnect with your body. When you are overly stressed, that tension gets held inside your body. Yoga gives you the space to release that tension and connect with your true self. Meditation helps to get you in the present moment, clear your mind and connect to your breath. Yoga and meditation bring relief to both the body and mind.

Bringing some of these practices to your daily life will bring your focus on what is truly valuable to you and how you can be your best self.
