Help Your Hips With Chiropractic and Stretches
By Sandy Schroeder
If you are one of the many who sit at a desk at home or at work all day you know your hips need all of the help they can get. Tight hips can create backaches, ongoing pain, and even threaten mobility if they are ignored.
That's where a visit to your local chiropractor and key stretches come in with help .
See Your Chiropractor
The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you is well equipped to help you with pain and wellness prevention plans to cope with the results of sitting too much. Licensed chiropractors help people of all ages get the help that they need.
When you come in, your chiropractor will want to hear about your daily routine, any pain that you have, and your health history. Together, you and your chiropractor can discuss your lifestyle and identify the issues. The spine allows us to move through the day, and the central nervous system inside provides the brain-to-body communication we all need. When the spine works well, hips may work better too.
Gentle targeted adjustments may ease any aches and pain, and produce a host of other benefits such as better sleep, more energy, or more alertness. Benefits are unique to each individual.
As you assess the results, a weekly 15-minute spinal adjustment may be ideal to keep the benefits coming; try out some new hip stretches that emphasize range of motion to help loosen up tight hips.
Try a Few Stretches
When we spend hours seated in the same position, our hip flexors tighten and stretching may help to open up the stuck range of movement. Here is one example of these stretches from WellAndGood.com. As always, work with your chiropractor and check with your doctor before beginning new exercises.
Standing stretch - Stand with feet flat on the floor. Hold onto a wall or counter, brace the core and keep tension in the right leg. Lift the left knee to the chest and hold it to open the hip. Lift the heel and kick the foot back. Slowly return to a standing start to switch sides and repeat. Breathe with each rotation. Do 30 to 60 seconds for each leg.
When you are ready to move ahead, visit The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you. Affordable personal healthcare plans eliminate the hassle of insurance. Clinics are open weekends and evenings and walk-ins are welcome.
