5 Fitness Dates to Try
By Brandi Goodman
Fitness is necessary for good health, yet so few people make the time for it. An easy way to incorporate fitness into your life is to add it to your date nights. Rather than sitting at a movie or going to dinner, make it a fitness date to remember. Both you and your partner can get some much needed exercise and bonding time.
Go for a Hike
A hike offers great exercise. Your body will be working overtime to make it up hills and tough terrain. It's never advised to go alone since it's so easy to get lost or encounter dangers along the way. Making it a date night for two is an excellent idea. You can explore the beauty of nature around you and hold conversation while you make your way up and back down again.
Go Golfing
Golfing burns more calories than you may realize. You can easily burn upwards of 300 calories within an hour, depending on your level of activity. Visit Downers Grove Golf Club on your date night or try a range in nearby cities. Both a regular golf course or a game of mini golf will suffice. Lost Mountain Adventure Golf is nearby in Woodridge.
Try Partner Yoga
You don't need to go out for this -- although you can if you desire. Local gyms or spas may offer couples yoga classes. Otherwise, you can find free videos online or buy a DVD that teaches you how to do each pose. Working with a partner during yoga can help the two of you connect on a spiritual level. It's a great option to burn calories and improve fitness while still feeling relaxed and calm. That's the art of yoga.
Take a Bike Ride Together
A bike ride around the neighborhood or through local park trails is another great fitness option that two people can easily do together. Enjoy a leisurely ride as the two of you converse. You'll both get to improve your lower body strength while getting in some good bonding time.
Hit the Batting Cages
Perfect your swing in the batting cages. This is a great date night option if either of you have been feeling stressed lately or there's a bit of turmoil in the relationship. You'll each get to take out some aggression with every hit of the ball. It will really work your arm strength and have you feeling good, which is also beneficial for stress relief.
Fitness dates can make for a fun and adventurous time. This bonding time of exercise can be great for both you and your partner's well-being, as well as for your relationship. Incorporate fitness into your date nights anytime you can!
