Plan a Holiday Date Night to Ease Your Stress

By Brandi Goodman

The holiday season brings out stress for a lot of people. Taking time away from thoughts of Christmas presents, gatherings, meal planning, and the rest of what's expected during the holidays can help you to feel a bit refreshed and ready to tackle them again. Plan a date night so you can get away from it all and have time to unwind with the one you love.

Take a Romantic Walk Through Well-Lit Neighborhoods

Gain a new appreciation for the Christmas season as you take a romantic walk though well-lit neighborhoods. Walking hand-in-hand with your loved one as you stroll through the streets taking in the beautiful sights of Christmas lights will help you to experience the beauty and wonder of the season. You'll soon forget about all you have to do and simply get to enjoy this scenery and time away with your significant other.

Rent a Cabin for a Night or Weekend

Taking a whole night away or even a full weekend can do wonders for your relationship and your stress levels. Rent a nearby cabin and simply enjoy each other's company without any other worries. If you truly don't have the time to get all of your to-do list accomplish if you do this, then complete a few tasks while you're there. Finishing your shopping and then wrapping gifts together at the getaway cabin can be romantic and fun if you make it so.

Decorate a Gingerbread House

Gingerbread houses aren't just for families to decorate. You and your loved one can decorate a gingerbread house together and have a fun few hours perfecting your creation. You can even turn it into a friendly competition and see who makes the best house based on an agreed upon theme.

Watch a Holiday Movie at Home

Holiday movies are part of the season, and there's lots to choose from. Pick out a movie or two to watch at home together. You can simply pop some popcorn and sit and watch the film or find something fun to do while you watch it, such as decorating Christmas cookies. Make it your yearly tradition that the two of you will continue to do on a particular date each year.

The stress of the holidays may make it seem like you shouldn't take time for a date. There's just too much to do. But planning a holiday date night can actually help you to take some time away from all the thoughts and chaos of the season and help you to de-stress and be better prepared for it all once you're back.
