Good Shoes May Give the Back a Break

By Tom Herrin

Lots of people have back pain.  It is often the result of some kind of accident, but it could be from something such as poor posture, strain, or a list of other things.  Many people have such pain as a result of a job or something that requires them to stand on their feet for long periods.  This may be fine except that when they have inadequate shoes, they could experience back pain.  It has been the source of my own back pain at times.  If poor or worn shoes seem to go straight to your back, a quick trip to a chiropractor may make the difference.

The Issues

It is important to choose shoes that can provide real support.  Particularly in the warmer temperatures, people may choose based on style rather than support.  When selecting such shoes, it is important get those that have a good shank.  This is the real meat of the support in the shoe.  It is also a good idea to look for three-arch support.  This means that it is designed for the natural shape of the foot.  Avoiding those shoes that offer none of these things is important to health.

Chiropractors Can Relieve Pain

People who go to a chiropractor generally do so because they have experienced some kind of trauma with their back.  When they go for a visit, they will likely be given an adjustment in which the injured joint is gently manipulated so that it is restored to its proper position.  When this happens, pressure is taken off a nerve that may be causing pain.  No pain medications are used, so there is no risk of addictions or side effects.  The chiropractor may suggest some exercises that can help to strengthen the muscles that support the joint.  They may also suggest some things to consider in choosing the right shoes.

Regular Visits May Protect Movement

When people experience the relief that a chiropractor can provide, they often want more.  At The Joint Chiropractic, they have all kinds of plans.  They are open days and evenings, weekdays and weekends.  No insurance is required, no appointments are necessary at any of their more than 450 locations nationwide.  If you have pain as a result of poor support from shoes or long hours of standing on your feet, drop in at The Joint Chiropractic today and get back to full speed tomorrow.
