The Perfect Workouts for Busy People
By Genevieve Cunningham
When it comes to working out, we all have our excuses. For the most part, our excuses revolve around two main things. We don't have the time, or we don't have the energy. For many people, these are simply excuses to get them out of the hard work that is exercise. But for other people, lacking time is a serious concern. We're living busier lives than ever ever before, and this can get in the way of keeping yourself healthy. If you are living a busier life than ever, take a look at these workouts that are perfect for fitting exercise into your busy schedule.
Walking
There's no excuse for skipping walking. You can walk at the local park or track, or if you really are seriously short on time, you can simply add more walking into your daily routine. Park further from the store, walk to lunch, or take the stairs when possible. Walking is a great way to build muscles, improve stamina, and boost your health in an overall way.
Calisthenics
Calisthenics -- things such as push-ups and crunches and lunges and squats -- can be done almost anywhere. All you need is a small square of space and a few minutes. Do it first thing in the morning, for a few minutes at lunch, or just before bed. Calisthenics are great for toning different areas of the body and burning calories. And for the very busy, it can be the perfect way to sneak in exercise no matter where you are or what you have going on.
HIIT
HIIT is also known as high intensity interval training. It's a workout that consists of long bursts of intense exercise followed by short periods of rest. Why is this good for busy people? Because you can get in a great, intense workout in a really short span of time. In a 20-minute workout, you may be able to burn hundreds of calories. You'll be sore and will burn your lungs and muscles like never before. If you still want to get in a solid workout but only have a few minutes to get it done, a HIIT workout may be all you need.
Even if you're busy, you may be able to sneak in a workout if you know where to begin. Use these workouts as a starting point. Don't forget that almost any workout is better than none, so get what you can and watch your health improve.
