You Can Take Advantage of Fall for Better Health
By Tom Herrin
Once the temperatures have finally changed over to those of autumn, it can be a great time for people to get the benefits of what is out there. The cooler temps usually make it much more appealing for people to get outdoors and enjoy the feeling. It can be a better time to work, play, or do just about anything. Many who have grown weary of the heat of summer now find great relief turning the pages of the calendar and enjoyed the weather that accompanies it. For those who would like to make a change in their lifestyle, fall can be an inviting time to do it.
Turn Simple Chores Into A Benefit
There are plenty of things that simply have to be done in the fall of the year. One of those is dealing with that seemingly endless pile of leaves. Most people have to either rake them or blow them. People may choose to rake them slowly or briskly. Raking leaves can provide a reasonable amount of exercise, burning a few hundred calories per hour. Since leaves in most places continue to fall for quite some time, a good amount of exercise can be done by raking them on a regular basis.
Pumpkin Patches Can Be Fun and Provide Exercise
There are plenty of fun things that are available to do in the fall. One of them is to visit a pumpkin patch. Searching around and looking for the right pumpkin can actually be exercise in itself. If people make it a fun trip, they will want to spend a good bit of time looking, feeling, and lifting those pumpkins. It can be a way of burning a couple hundred calories while having fun. Taking that pumpkin home to carve can be a good follow-up activity. While this may be limited to a time or two, finding similar types of activities can allow good family time while burning calories.
Take Part In Harvesting
Whether it is picking apples or picking up pecans, anything similar can provide some stretching and moving. Calories can be burned while collecting whatever you decide is your thing. From my experience, picking up pecans will likely turn into a daily routine for a while. You will be able to have some regular activity while possibly not even realizing it. Whatever you choose, the fall is often an ideal time to get out there and get healthier.
