Rain, Rain! Let's Work Out Anyway!
By Genevieve Cunningham
The weather is changing, and most people are getting excited about the fall season. While this brings some wonderful chilly nights and crisp mornings, it also tends to bring a little rain. And not just any rain … dark, dreary rain. While this can make for some wonderful nights inside on the couch, it can make working out incredibly difficult. If you need ideas for getting in a workout despite the rain, take a look at these tips that you can use this fall.
You Can Go for a Walk
If the rain is slight and it's not too chilly out, walking outside in the drizzle can feel really good. Some people may enjoy this change of pace in the fall. If you're not thrilled to walk outside, you can take your walk inside. Find a treadmill, an indoor track, or a big empty room. Walking is an easy, adaptable way to exercise, which makes it a good choice for any time of the year.
You Can Join an Aerobics Class
If you really want or need to take it indoors, check out your local gym for an aerobics class. Aerobics is a great way to get in cardio along with toning and calisthenics. It also provides a fun group atmosphere, which is really beneficial for those who thrive on outside accountability. Luckily, there are multiple types of aerobics, so everyone can find something that suits their personality. Do a search in your city and give it a try.
You Can Do Yoga
Yoga can be done in a gym, at home, inside, outside, or wherever you have a little space. It can be slow and methodical or fast and intense. You can go solo or find a group. You can really make yoga work for you. It’s highly adaptable and extremely personal. If you're looking for a way to stay in shape through the fall (or any season), and you want something that you can change to meet your needs, yoga is a great choice.
Don't let the rain keep you from working out. It's tempting to stay in and binge some Netflix, but you'll be glad that you got some movement after the fact. Use these exercises to help you stay in shape, and feel better through this season and beyond.
