Meet The Doctors

Dr. George Tyler, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Brier Creek Commons

My chiropractor stopped the pain!

Growing up I had a condition of the knees called Osgood-Schlatter Syndrome. It is one of the most common causes of knee pain in children. I was active and played sports often, but the pain in my knees frustrated me and limited my participation. My parents took me to their doctors, but none were able to stop the pain. Then my father took me to a chiropractor. After only a few adjustments, to my back and knees, the pain began to dissipate and I was feeling better. I was both thankful and amazed and the effectiveness of chiropractic care. I can tell you from my experience both as a patient and a doctor… chiropractic therapy works and it works well!

My chiropractic journey

That was my introduction to chiropractic and I knew then what I wanted to do with my life. After receiving my Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from N.C. State University, I went on to earn my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University in Atlanta. I choose to attend Life University because of the strong subluxation-based philosophy which I supported a lot. The curriculum at Life University consisted of 2,887 hours of classroom study and 1,598 hours of clinical studies, including kinesiology, toxicology and spinal adjusting. So, while my education sharpened my expertise, my philosophy and hard work drives my passion.

In practice, I utilize a wide range of chiropractic techniques, muscular therapies and therapeutic exercise specifically tailored for each patient. This provides an integrated chiropractic approach to conservative care. My practice focuses on the entire family and offers the highest quality of chiropractic care to both children and adults. I find that holistic, conservative care is an extremely effective treatment for a wide variety of conditions. I am an excellent clinician, and a good listener. I hope to have the opportunity to meet you in person and discuss your specific health challenges.

On a personal note

I am blessed to have a lovely wife, Joselyn and three children, Jillian, George Jr. and Vanessa. We live in the North Raleigh area and love it around here. When I am not spending time with my family, I enjoy listening to jazz, playing the saxophone, and I am an avid football fan.

Chiropractic - A Natural Healing Method

Dr. Brandon Burkley is a 1998 graduate from the National University of Health Sciences located in Lombard, IL. He received both his Bachelor’s of Human Sciences and his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from NUHS. He first fell in love with chiropractic care and wanted to pursue it as a profession when he learned of its many natural benefits, and how he could make a positive impact in the lives of others through such non-invasive means. Being able to alter and repair the body just through certain movements and methods is what truly amazes him, it’s the ultimate form of natural healing. Healthcare is at its best when it’s non-invasive, and chiropractic is about as natural and non-invasive as you’re going to get!

Dr. Chance Charlton, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Brier Creek Commons

Dr. Chance Charlton arrived at The Joint Chiropractic’s Brier Creek clinic in 2018 with more than a decade of chiro experience behind him. He received his doctorate from Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Mo., after having received a major in Spanish and minor in chemistry from the University of Utah.

“The best thing about being a chiropractor, to me, is that I get to help people feel better,” Dr. Charlton says. “It’s such rewarding work.” It’s amazing to be able to look at a problem and know that with a careful treatment plan and through regular adjustments and chiropractic work, we might be able to treat this person completely and have them ailment-free one day!

Diverse Background - Singular Focus - Chiropractic Treatments

Prior to becoming the local chiropractor to his neighbors in the Brier Creek commons area, Dr. Charlton has worked in geographic locations that spanned a broad range of cultures and ways of living, from: Dillingham, Alaska; Mesa, Arizona; and Louisville, Kentucky. Not surprising, he enjoys hiking and camping, as well as reading. With all of that, he not only brings his chiropractic expertise to our clinic, he brings his experience as someone who has been all over and experienced different things and areas. The Brier Creek area can be very diverse, and it’s important that we are able to fully appreciate that.

Dr. Charlton and his wife Tara have two daughters. He says chiropractic care played a huge role in Tara’s life, and it gave him the moment when he knew that chiropractic care and adjustments were his calling. Whether you know of any or not, chiropractic care has positively impacted the lives of a large number of people, and allowed them to live better and more enjoyable lives overall.

“Through chiropractic care, my wife’s fibromyalgia was able to be controlled so she could function,” he says. It’s one thing to hear or read about a treatment, but it’s another to see its effects first hand and in your every-day life. It gives you a new level of appreciation for what chiropractic care can do for your health. This also means that as your chiropractor, Dr. Charlton fully believes in his ability to treat you regardless of what may be going on.

A Chiropractor for the People

Having that kind of impact is also what Dr. Charlton likes about working at the Brier Creek clinic. “It’s all about the people,” he says. It’s important to everyone at The Joint that you feel comfortable with your chiropractor, they need to know about any issues you may have so they can come up with the most effective chiropractic treatment plan for YOU.

In Case You Didn’t Know

Dr. Charlton says the one thing he must have on hand in his kitchen are plenty of vegetables, and if he were to share a veggie plate with any four people from history, his ideal party would include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Lee, Buddha, and Eve.

“I love Arnold’s accent, Bruce Lee never quits, I would love to hear Buddha’s other point of view, and I would like to hear from Eve on what really went down when all this started,” Dr. Charlton says. “And it’s always good to have a woman’s perspective.”

No doubt, the conversation would eventually turn to Dr. Charlton’s diving excursion off the coast of California. “It’s the coolest thing I’ve ever done,” he says. “Went scuba diving off the Channel Islands and I got to see a whale in its natural habitat.”

Dr. Luis Alvarez, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Brier Creek Commons

Background in Nursing

Dr. Alvarez grew up in Colombia, South America. He has had a passion for health care his entire life. He first graduated at the age of twenty from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He worked for a little over three years as a critical care nurse in the ICU and the ER. This kind of experience gave Dr. Alvarez an excellent background top become a chiropractor in the North Raleigh area.

Chiropractic Promotes Health

Later, his passion for health care drove him to pursue a Doctorate in Chiropractic at Sherman College in South Carolina where he obtained his degree in March 2018. Dr. Alvarez states that he chose the chiropractic professional path due to its focus on promoting health rather than treating disease. While much of a chiropractor's time is spent treating problems such as back pain, shoulder pain and many other common problems, the primary focus is always improving and promoting an individual's health.

Dr. Alvarez loves living and working in North Raleigh NC. He also enjoys a good book, jogging on the greenway and black coffee in the mornings. His favorite quote is credited to man by the name of Kahlil Gibran, “To understand the heart and mind of a person, look not at what he has already achieved but at what he aspires to.”
