Your Chiropractic Guidance on Shoes
By Brandi Goodman
Shoes get worn daily by many people. Yet, so few of them actually understand just which versions are best for their foot health. Some shoes should never be utilized, as they can cause foot and leg pain easily. Consider some chiropractic guidance when choosing your shoes for a better experience.
Skip the Sandals
Sandals with flat bottoms are not safe to wear. These types of shoes offer no shock absorption or traction. It's easy to trip and fall in a pair of sandals and even flats. Many people opt for these types because they're breathable on a warm day, but athletic shoes really should be considered no matter the weather.
Ditch the High Heels
High heels are even worse for your feet. The higher the heel, the more you're putting your foot at an angle. This can cause unnecessary stress on your feet and legs. You may even notice lower back pain because of it. Ditch the high heels -- or stick with some lower options at the very least. Wedges also provide more stability than stilettos.
Replace Your Shoes Regularly
You may not realize just how often you should be replacing your shoes. Shoes get worn down extremely quickly. You should be replacing them every year or two at the most, depending on how often you wear them. Shoes are not meant to be kept for years and years -- especially if you're wearing them often. They will lose their traction and level of comfort and leave your feet aching.
Don't Wear the Same Pair Daily
It isn't wise to wear the same pair of shoes daily. This can wear them out extremely fast and make it so a new pair is in order promptly. If you want to get some extra life out of your shoes and keep them comfortable for as long as possible, then you should be switching up the ones you wear. Try alternating between a few pairs. If you only have the one and do need to wear them daily, then you should be getting new ones every six months or so.
Your foot health can be impacted greatly by the shoes you choose.
